I have e-mailed the European Commission and asked if they are going to enforce this in member states.It is all very well to issue the alert but it is not much good to those affected by it unless it is enforced. Maybe they will reply to me. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Update. I finally got a reply from the Minister for Transport who informs me that someone else is responsible for safety issues and included links. So I checked these links. The only issue being pursued by Land Rover are the following.
Jaguar Land Rover Ireland Limited recalls certain Land Rover Defender, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Velar vehicles 31 August 2022 Jaguar Land Rover Ireland Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain Land Rover Defender, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Velar vehicles. The issue has been identified whereby a manufacturing defect identified on certain front seat belt pretensioners that had caused damage to the pretensioner tubes during assembly. This could result in a reduced level or complete loss of pretensioning in the event of an accident and increase the risk of occupant injury. There are 79 vehicles affected in the Republic of Ireland that were produced between 5 January 2022 to 24 May 2022. and aguar Land Rover Ireland Limited recalls certain Land Rover Discovery passenger vehicles 24 March, 2022 Jaguar Land Rover Ireland Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain Land Rover Discovery passenger vehicles. The issue has been identified whereby on affected vehicles, due to a manufacturing issue, the fuel feed hose assembly may have been incorrectly routed and as a result could split. This may lead to a fuel leak into the engine bay. A fuel leak in the engine bay compartment may result in an engine bay fire. A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders. There are 72 vehicles affected in the Republic of Ireland that were produced between 2018 - 2019. Yes, that's just the latest of *New* Defender recalls. German KBA lists three recalls for the New from MY 2020 on. For our Defender there is nothing new yet since 2018 (a brake pipe/hose recall for MY 2014/15).

Thank you. Is this "just" what we know already, finally reaching public news (which would mean at least some progress)? Or does it contain new facts? I have seen confirmation that JLR have been issued this order for recall by the EU. I can also confirm that they need to action this asap. The source of my information is from the Government UK and they are awaiting JLR response into how they will carry this out !! all the best |

Following on from Payney1000's comment about work being sent to India to protect TATA locally, I heard somewhere that some/many of the V6/V8 diesel crakshaft failures (e.g. Range Rover, Disco) happened to Indian made crankshafts. True? False? I don't know, but worth considering.
When the weather improves I'll be crawling under my MY2011/110 to look at the axle. |

It seems the DVSA are not doing their job, surely they can’t think a catcher bracket is a proper engineering solution. The fact it is called a catcher bracket should raise major engineering concerns to them, else all vehicles would be fitted with catcher brackets.
They should be saying a major component that affects the steering of the vehicle is known to be inadequate and therefore needs replacing with one that is fit for purpose. Else they are saying it’s ok to build a vehicle where the axle will snap as long as the wheel is caught when it does. How can they justify that !!!!! |

Best cast steel from TATA in India, I imagine.
It would be useful if someone could have a serious accident on a vehicle fitted with the brackets to evidence that even with the brackets the vehicle is unsafe if the axle fails. |
