I think he might to say
"It would be useful if someone had had an accident with the axle fitted with the brackets, if they could post it here." Or something along those lines. Actually someone did at low speed but I cannot locate it at the moment. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

What Blackwolf has mentioned above with the zebra crossings anology is on the same lines to what JLR service stated to me when I visited their office with my concern and the EU alert in my hand. Not enough failures 🤬 Just shows the arrogance in JLR culture. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

It seems JLR are stuck in the 60's culture where IIRC Ford wrapped some rubber round the fuel tank of the Pinto and called it the rear bumper, then when they realised the mistake, did a calculation on the cost of a redesign / recall against the cost of paying out for cremating a few peasants, sorry important customers and their loved ones....

I wonder if any of the small number of TDCi Defenders in the world running Tibus portal axle conversions have MIG-welded axles? I imagine that that would tend to break them!

Locally the wise guys dump their axles and get some proper Y61 ones. There is a good reason for that. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Have people forgotten how to use wing mirrors? Seriously though. Ford are issuing a recall because the rear view camera "could" fail. You would think that a potentially faulty axle would be a more critical issue than the rear view camera. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

Reading that Ford recall its either a relatively 'free' software update or a quick job of flicking a little camera out of its housing and refitting a new one, then passing the cost back to the supplier of the camera.
The potential cost of changing the front axle and LR having to absorb that themselves plus then the argument with every owner over a courtesy 4x4, 'oh you need new brakes, new bearings, new bushes etc' would be the stuff of nightmares - no wonder they're trying to slope shoulders.....Bar stewards! |

Only because a large group of owners got together and took Jeep to court!
The Death Wobble issue has been a thorn in Jeep's side for years, with previous incidents leading to a class-action lawsuit in 2019... FCA US, the US arm of Stellantis, which owns the Jeep brand, is also covering attorney fees for the plaintiffs in the class-action lawsuit. This amount is capped at $3.95 million And from this article, Jeep are still refusing to accept liability, despite paying out millions, (sound familiar??) https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/jeep-...r-AA16LtkN The proposed agreement stipulates that the company denies any admission of liability or wrongdoing |

They are bolt on not weld on. I brought mine from a large distribution website when they had a 20% off weekend. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.
5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details |

A search shows both available on JLR Classic website.
