I loved my icepod mod, or whatever it was called, but moved to bluetooth a while ago. All the benefits of "hands free" calling in an old Defender. HELLO??! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!?.....
But the EGT thing is more interesting. I have a 'madman' fitted about a year or two ago, with the alarm set to 630' I think. Around here, if I accelerate in 5th up any kind of incline, I'll trigger the alarm. That's with a tweaked fuel pump; a Donaldson air filter; VNT and Griffin exhaust; and an AMC head. I think EGT are driven by unburnt fuel in the exhaust manifold. At lower gear/higher revs it just doesn't happen. On the other hand, if I'm only a little careful, I can mooch around at 300-550' on a routine basis. That's largely unloaded. I did try the tweaked pump as you know but did not work out, so i have slightly tweaked my standard pump and i now have the AMC performance turner head and as you mentioned Donald that the gauge only goes high when your using your right foot a lot
You mentioned that you have gone over to bluetooth now, so may i ask what did you do with your Dension unit that the ipod sits in ? would you consider selling please, it if you still have it ? 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

So after a little time with the " newer " head light surrounds, i have decided that i prefer Millie with the original ones, so i got them out and spent all morning cleaning them up with a good de-greasing then a cleaning compound followed by ultimate polish then last of all, ultimate wax, i think that they have come up well, i know that they are not perfect but it keeps in with the look of Millie. At the same time i put only new lenses on the side and indicators lights both sides as the ones that were on Millie were the original ones as far as i can remember

Looking great Clayton. The headlight surrounds, painted or did you polish up the raw finish? - came up really well.

Thanks Black Puma
The light surrounds are the original ones, about 5-6 years ago i painted them in gloss black and since then they have had just normal cleaning and bug wear n tare and the odd stone They did come up much better than i thought they would 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

So Millie went in for another one of her 6,000 mile service's, all went well, at the same time we decided to put a new sump pan on as the original one was dripping more oil than normal, so far it has worked a treat
