Swings and roundabouts. Experienced production line workers may lower the production costs but a Brexit no deal will no doubt equate this for UK buyers. May be Boris J and Ursula v d L will fall in love and we get a deal in the end (and a cheaper Grenadier). Defender 90XS SW

Interesting comment!

This is the problem when a company like JLR are lead by designers, marketing and PR gurus.

Reminds me of somewhere I worked in the past where the attitude was that if you did not wear cuff links you weren’t important........

Just wanted to say that I'm officially out as of today. I thought long and hard about the Grenadier being made elsewhere and not in Britain, and I just can't handle it. There are factors when buying new, and for me this was a big one. I wanted the Defender to be made here. It wasn't (Slovakia???) and that was a strong factor in deciding not to buy it. I had big hopes for the Grenadier. My other deciding factors were pitched in favour of it. But about 75% of those factors were weighed on it being built in Britain. I wanted a British 4x4.
So now I know that isn't going to happen, the Defender came back into the equation. But having seen the TFL video on YouTube, that's out (and I just can't 100% accept the styling!). So it's back to the last surviving option: the Jeep Wrangler. It's going to be black, and it will be lifted.
Bye, bye Ineos. You've cost yourself sales, and I can't grasp that.

British-Built Cars (@BritBuiltCars) Tweeted:

Ineos Automotive confirm that the Grenadier will be assembled in France and not at a new factory in Wales, as they have bought the 'oven-ready' Hambach plant. Still we've got the @IbexVehicles F8, which I think would eat the new Defender and Grenadier for breakfast. So there.

Don’t think the current Ibex gets enough press, they’re interesting things.

I wouldn’t get too hung up about things being built in the UK...

Comparative advantage says it’s better for Land Rover to built high markup vehicles (Range Rovers, etc) here while keeping costs down as low as possible elsewhere. There’s a reason the VW Group build the Polo in Slovakia/Spain/Russia/Algeria but the Panamera in Germany. Cheers, David
Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8.

Think they’re slightly wider inside, looking at how their Defender dashboards fit.

"I wouldn’t get too hung up about things being built in the UK"

I get that some people aren't bothered by that. But to me, it was a big factor. Part of the reason why I've loved all three Defenders I've had is because they were British. I run a small manufacturing business, and we make a big thing about the products being built here in GB.

Now that I can only buy a foreign 4x4, it might as well be the Wrangler. I see absolutely no reason at all to buy the Grenadier over the Wrangler. They will both be priced the same, and the Wrangler looks MUCH better than the Grenadier!!! (to me). Now left.

Supacat, I've been spending a lot of my internet time continually checking back on the Ibex website for a few months since you last recommended it to me (I think it was you). It hasn't changed! I actually wondered if they are still in business. If they are, then their business sense is truly terrible. Their website
https://www.ibexf8.com
is like a 10 year-old has done it. And it never changes. I was interested in the 2.3. And there was a website somewhere that was talking about them being taken over by the military to build a battle-ready 4x4 for them, but I think it was just boys dreaming.
They MUST get someone in to make that website slick. It's pathetic. Now left.
