Fender Seal
Just a couple of minor bits today, the first of which was to fit a rubber fender seal (part no. LR038612) to the inner edge of the drivers side wing. For reasons unknown, my 110 had one on the passenger side but not the drivers Confused

Anyway, this is what it looks like:

And this is it insitu:

I did mean to secure it with a smear of Sikaflex but discovered that my tube of the stuff has gone off Rolling Eyes so that's a little job for another day.

There have been some reports recently of this seal either not being available or only at hugely inflated prices. However, I sourced mine from site sponsor Advanced Factors for just under £11. Darren

Umbrella Holder
Next up was another small step towards my perfect stowage solution, an umbrella holder! This has to be one of the most simple modifications on the planet, merely consisting of a 750mm length of 2 inch plastic pipe (I know I'm mixing my units Laughing ) cable tied to the rear of the front legs of the '60' part of the second row seats:

This places my umbrella immediately to hand when the door is opened:

An embellishment of the idea could be to drill a series of holes in the side of the pipe to allow a wet umbrella to dry out but I only thought of that after I'd fitted it, so it'll do for now. Darren

A further enhancement might be to wrap a coil of wire round the outside of the tube to heat the tube and force dry the brolly. Very Happy

I did, very briefly, consider a tube connected to the heater to blow warm air along the pipe...then I came to my senses Laughing

Ah, that's unrelated. It's for securing my steering wheel should I ever need to leave it in the vehicle. Darren

Storage
As part of my ongoing mission to make use of all of the various nooks and crannies in my 110, today I took delivery of two plastic cases like this:

They are vaguely similar to, but much cheaper than Peli cases and are to be used to store a selection of recovery and emergency gear:

They were particularly chosen for their size, which allows them to be stored in the space between the second row seats and the dog guard:

They're clearly not something that will be used every day and so are out of the way, but easily reached even if the rear is loaded up:

LRA, you must cease with this thread as your costing me a fortune nicking all your well thought through ideas. Bow down

This cases look just the ticket. I'm currently using a bag of sorts (i never have figured out its original purpose) borrowed from the Royal Mail for things like jump leads, and having just recently fitted a dog guard I'll have to review if the leads will fit in the box youve sourced as thats a perfect place to store them.

As for the umbrella holder, can you develop a MK2 variant for the stowage of more than one umbrella? I keep 3 or 4 under my rear seat Whistle 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

Those cases do look good.
I note you have a travelall dog guard - I will need to check if they fit mine with a genuine as I think it sits slightly nearer the seats.

I think you're right. These cases are 120mm deep and the space behind my seats is around 130mm but YMMV. Darren

That's easy - another length of pipe and some duct tape Laughing Darren

Just looked at the tubs I use with my genuine guard - they are between 70 and 80mm. 120 way too big!

That's a shame. When I fitted the guard, I was a bit disappointed by the apparent amount of wasted space behind the seats but now I'm quite pleased with it. Darren

If you left it open in the middle, it would air dry, and a lower mounting would allow it to drip onto the rubber mat rather than uncovered metal:
