Ok, so finally got around to fitting them and they don't
The nuts have a built in washer/flange (sorry don't know their correct name) and these don't clear the new brackets, plus the brackets have a recess that looks like the nut should sit inside, which they won't. So, I am guessing the nuts need to be changed for the old type like on my tdi's which are just 'normal' nuts. Is that correct? If so, what size/spec are the nuts please so I can order some, as the shop at my local indi appears not to be open at the moment. 24mm socket size. The nuts in your top photo are "flange nuts", a style which is extensively used on the Defender. Those in your second photo are nylon insert stiff nuts, commonly known as nylocs.
The radius arm bolts on the Defender are M16 but I think are 1.5mm pitch fine thread (not the standard 2.0mm pitch coarse thread). The correct nut for the application is ANR3140, which is a nylon insert nut with a small flange, which will (or at least should) fit the counterbore in the bracket and which look like this:- If you want to check the thread (I visually checked and it looks to me like 1.5mm pitch) try threading a Defender wheel nut on the exposed end of the bolt, since Defender wheel nuts are definitely M16 x 1.5mm. There is probably no reason why you should not use an M16 x 1.5mm standard (flangeless) nyloc, but you may find that it is just as easy, possibly easier, to obtain ANR3140. The corresponding flange bolt, M16 x 1.5mm pitch x 100mm, is RYG501550 should you need it (given that you appear to have non-standard nuts I suppose it is possible that you also have non-standard bolts). As 2016 was right at the end of production, it is possible that substitute parts were used, but the part numbers above are those listed for TD5 and TDCi vehicles. Incidentally they are also used on the P38 and probably many other Landrover products. Hope this helps. |

No the kit does not include nuts, just the bracket (the left and right brackets are sole separately for some reason, as if you'd only fit one!)
Carman, assuming that they are the right thread (again try one on the exposed thread before dismantling) they will be absolutely fine, there is no engineering requirement for a flange nut in that application. |

They are almost certainly a "standard" M16, which will be a coarse thread with 2.0mm pitch. You need a fine thread nut, with 1.5mm pitch. Perhaps inevitably these are harder to find.
M16 x 2.0 fittings are commonly used on towbars, any 2-bolt towball is likely to be secured with them. |

From a safety perspective a nyloc is a nyloc right, so as long as it is correct pitch I am assuming it will be safe

M16 x 1.5 nylocs can be found quite easily. This was the first of many following a search on eBay:
