Many thanks to Zagato for sorting my 90 out. Brilliant work and highly recommended. Underneath the car is looking great now with the Corroheat applied.
Ordered my tin of ACF50 this morning to I can keep on top of things as well |

Thanks for all your hard work on our Defender, Chris. It's safely back into darkest Norfolk now.
Luckily no issues at the border control between Suffolk and Norfolk Glade you like the cake as well as our USW Great picture with its little brother. I do like the look of a 90 and if my numbers come up, I will be adding one to my collection to keep our 110 company If anyone has been having thoughts about getting their truck protected, Chris has done an A1 job for us. Can't recommend his work highly enough Thank you again, Chris |

I know I’m coming into this at the wrong time of year perhaps, but I’ve decided to get the underside of my 90 sorted out before subjecting it to the salty roads where I live, they’ve been out gritting a few times now. I’ve already bought a great load of products from bilt hamber and I’ve started on the underneath today, giving it a thorough clean all over the chassis and going at it with the abrasives. The problem I have is that the truck lives outside, and I want to ensure it’s completely dry before applying anything as I will be using the bilt hamber epoxy mastic so I don’t want to seal anything in. Does anyone have any good tips for making sure it’s bone dry inside and out? My plan is to get under with a heat gun and fill the insides of the chassis firstly with bh atom Mac which is supposed to disperse water, then fill them right up with dynax s50. Then the outside will get a coat of the mastic. I have already treated the few spots of rust that I can see with bh hydrate 80 rust converter. Does this sound anything like or will I start seeing problems in a couple of years? sorry for the novel but I am concerned about this one and am planning on having it as a keeper.

Warning g-unit, nothing disperses moisture completely, (its ) apply any solution and it will push water of course BUT moisture "soaks" into metal, especially welds which you have runnning along the entire length of your chassis. Drying is paramount, you will make things worse by covering moisture of course, you will have to decide what is best for this in your circumstances. Not easy if working from home outside without proper equipment! I only used Bilt Hamber once for reasons previously stated, so cannot advice on your products.

One of my regular customers and one of my favourite Defenders. Now refreshed underneath and with a cleaned/polished body Three layers of Underbody Dinitrol and three layers of body wax will keep her mint over winter
Click image to enlarge And something completely different and rotten because somebody had filled the chassis with waxoyl and sealed it in. Never do this, you get condensation in box sections and waxoyl becomes a thick cakey mess in as little as two years and acts like a wet sponge just holding water against the chassis... disaster, much welding and fabricating going on now, nearly finished. Use Dinitrol cavity 1000 treatment folks, yes they have changed the name again! It will never soak up moisture... Waxoyl is a 1960's technology like the car simply oil, wax and white spirits Click image to enlarge Wet waxoyl cut and peeled back to show wet rust underneath. Waxoyl peeled off other areas showing rot on already replaced fabricated metal. Apart from it becoming soaked as it is only wax and oil which does not resist water after a year or so, it shrinks letting water in down the sides and underneath as it does not seal onto metal. The whitish/yellow stuff, bottom inside is the wet waxoyl. The moisture has been sitting on the lower sides where the waxoyl has shrunk... and underneath of course, holed also. It was so full of waxoyl, we had drops of it on fire dripping down as we welded. If you have this situation I would open up the drain holes and heat the chassis up, get out as much as you can, then 360 degree spray with ACF-50 then once again with Dinitrol 1000.

For those of us brave/stupid enough to want to do DIY application of Dinitrol, is there any effective way to clean the chassis without access to a steam cleaner? I did mine a few years ago with just a pressure washer and soap and it really doesn't get all the crud off. It needs doing a again now and wondering how to do a better job of cleaning it. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
