Optimill Boss Lock
So, after a small degree of badgering, I've stumped up for the lock to fit to the removable steering wheel boss:

It's a neat bit of kit. It's slightly fiddly to fit but that is an inherent part of its' design. I just need to find somewhere to stash it when not in use, now. Darren

mine goes in the cubby box, I did toy with the idea of getting shot of it, but I think its a good idea, plus this one is a better specd model too. They are fiddly but worth it Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

For convenience, I suspect mine will too. I'll need to make some space first though... Rolling Eyes Laughing Darren

for what it might be worth.... I took the drink holder insert out of the cubby tray, and fitted the lock retainer in there, on the driver's side.

You can see it here - though the lock's not on it.

The lock itself is a very neat fit in there, but fine and handy.

But this might be a 'chocolate teapot' suggestion, as my cubby is a non-standard 'Barebox' one, so the standard one might be too small. Donald

Thanks. It's an interesting idea but you're right, the standard cubby is smaller. Plus I wouldn't want to lose the cup holders. Darren

I found that the reflection was irritating me so i put some black insulation tape around the silver parts, but not the part you push in as there is no room Rolling Eyes so i don't notice it as much now Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Stowing the Optimill swivel lock in mine I have mounted the docking station on a home fabricated bracket behind the cubby box, it doesnt foul the cubby box, it’s easily to hand and doesn’t rattle.

Reference being fiddly to fit not sure what’s fiddly about it perhaps you need a Roy5695 to help you?

Try this suggestion I got from forum member Legit certainly makes things easier, simply drill a hole directly above the top pin hole then place your finger over it as your fitting the lock and it’s easy to line it up to fit it. Thumbs Up

Thanks. Unfortunately, I have a sub on the back of my cubby (and a passenger footwell), so that's not an option for me.

Marking the inner part of the lock is a good idea and would, of course, stop it being fiddly. It looks like I've mounted the column part upside down compared to yours though, as that's the bottom hole on mine Rolling Eyes Darren

Don’t think it matters to be honest Darren, you should still be able to use the same approach with the drill hole.

Yeah, of course. I just need to sit there with it in front of me and work out what'll be the easiest way to do it. Darren
