I fitted one of these springs on Saturday and it was, frankly, a bit of a challenge.

On the plus side, having now driven with it for a couple of days, I'm on the verge of declaring it my best mod yet, such is the impact it's had Shocked Darren

Fitted my new spring today using the cable tie technique and successfully finished in 15mins including cutting the bit of wood to prop the pedal!
I do have a bit of a problem though.... makes the pedal feel much lighter, but when pressed all the way down the pedal feels like it over centres and gets stuck in the down position. When you lift your foot off it takes a fraction of a second for the pedal to come back from being stuck.
Any ideas???? 15 plate 2.2SW XS

Not really helpful, but mine feels like it is about to do what you describe, but hasn't ever actually stuck down. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Sounds like you’ve fitted it upside down. Look at LOF website. I did the same 😂

Hi Matt

I also fitted one this evening in my 2015MY SW XS and have exactly the same feeling through the pedal as you describe.

I don’t think I have fitted it upside down but will take a look tomorrow.

Can I suggest living with it for a day or two? When I fitted mine. I found that I was applying far too much pressure, which made it feel as though the pedal was stuck down when releasing the pedal. After driving round for a few days though, I re-learnt what was required and now it's great. Darren

Can’t see how it can be installed upside down, this is how it looks:

Will give it a few days and see if it wears in a bit.
Took my foot off the clutch last night going home and the pedal stuck down, had to use my toes to pull it back up 15 plate 2.2SW XS

Will be interesting to see the how other folks with later models get on with... I appear to be the only person as far as I've read that hasn't noticed the spring making any difference at all... Shocked

Perhaps the plastic U bush isn't seated properly and is catching on the edge of the matting? Might be worth an explore with the pedal pushed down. Darren

I squirted some spray copper grease around the plastic bushes yesterday which seems to have helped this morning when I took the Land Rover out. I’ve checked the bushes to make sure they are all seated correctly, the only thing I can think of is that the spring seemed quite a tight fit in the two round bushes when I practice assembled it before installing it on the pedal. I wonder whether there was a slight manufacturing fault or intolerance which hopefully will wear in that has caused this issue. 15 plate 2.2SW XS

I just installed the spring today and mine does the sane thing. its not backwards. it feel great until just before it hits the floor and then it feel as if it goes past center just a hair and wants to stick to the floor. i've lubed the bushes too.

I’ve been using the defender all weekend and I have to say it feels much better now, the pedal hasn’t got stuck down since Friday evening and now my foot has got used to the light feel it’s a massive improvement over the standard spring, considering I have serious left hip problems.
I would suggest giving it a few days and see how you get on with it after it wears itself in and you get used to the pedal feel! 15 plate 2.2SW XS
