That’s such a shame ref your fuel cap, I would be returning it and asking for a refund, it shouldn’t leak, I think I’m right in saying wouldn’t that be an mot failure or is it that if you have a locking fuel cap the lock must work 2015 HT XS 90

It's the latter with the fuel cap Simon
I don't think it will do any good as i can't be to return it as it's not cheap as i found out when i had to return it the first time due to it not fitting I think that anything with the lock in the middle like the old plastic ones will leak in time 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. That's a poor show. I have an optimill and I'm pretty sure the innards are just a standard LR cap. If you can't get an exchange/refund from Optimill perhaps you can cannibalise one to fit the billet cap?

Yes they have got the innards of the original cap, if i had known, i don't think i would have got one
I'm not going down the refund route, i will keep it and in time i will have an how to make it leak proof 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

L110CDL, I would still have a word with them about it, those are not cheap. They may just send you a replacement one free of charge. Also there could be a fault too that they don't know about Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Fair comment Procta.
If it was a £5.95 cap, I may have just took the waste of money on the chin, but these guys pride theirselves on a quality product. I'm sure its worth having a word with them. That reminds me of a Farmer who my mate used to work with. He would buy bits and implements for the farm. They would try them out and if they were good and worked, the implement would get looked after. If it failed, or didn't live up to the promises, he didn't call the company or salesman to find out why, he just reversed it into the nettles and left the stuff to rot. A lot of this stuff were attachments for the Grey Ferguson's. Some of the stuff was recovered for restoration, but sadly a large amount went the way of the scrap metal dealer. |

Just a couple of little jobs done over the weekend
First job was to put back on the original vents that were took off to re-do the foam around the edges and to have the paint work done as well ...... The original vent flaps in primer .... Click image to enlarge Then putting the first coat on ... Click image to enlarge Then the top and final coat on .... Click image to enlarge Then after they had time to harden, about 2-3 weeks i put the foam on the backs .... Click image to enlarge Then they were left for about a month in my shed to cure ... So i started to take the N/S vent flap off a noticed something that was not right, after i took it off completely, this was the problem ... Click image to enlarge The glue was not doing it's job Any help with what glue to use please to sort this problem out So just the right time to do the change over, new flaps on and with the SS pins from naka to finish them off Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Then i got around to one of the jobs that i just not had time to do one way or another So some of you will remember i had bought a compass from a member on here and with the the help of George (grafty99 ) he made me a top with his 3D machine to go on a MUD ash/coin tray to mount it on, this is the outcome .... Before Click image to enlarge Then with the new addition, yes i know the gap is there, i forgot to move it over before i took the pic's so there is no gap at each side now Click image to enlarge Then not to waste the space underneath Click image to enlarge So i am trying to get use to it there, but it's in the way of me seeing the N/S wing, important when meeting drivers in the narrow lanes, so i will see if it can stay, if not, it will have to go 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. That's handy Clayton, you still retain somewhere to stub out a woodbine!
Shame about the foam. Not sure what to suggest? The tape they put decals onto cars with? Contact adhesive? Whatever you use, the bonding surface needs to have all the old stuff removed or it will never stick. The paint work looks great |
