The old JK wrangler started at well under £40k

No UK price released yet for the JL, but in Germany the 4dr Rubicon is Euro 56,000 - or about £50k
A low spec 3dr might just scrape in under £40k. Sad
For a 4cyl Fiat engine. Not the US Pentastar V6 Sad

Jimny is looking better every day.

Please explain why.

Jeep has had fully functioning full time 4wd systems in it's products since the 80's yet has stuck with 2wd/4wd in it's hard-core offroader

While a series 3 with a v8 engine swap was fun in the 1980s, time really has moved on.
If that's what people want today, it is still possible to build one.

I'd agree with a mechanical high/low gearbox selection lever though and a proper handbrake.
No need to over complicate things that work ok.

Wranglers are very over priced. The brand is so profitable that it drawrfs it’s sister companies in profit margin. I don’t have a single problem with healthy margins but I find Wranglers very hard to justify. They have very low towing and payload ratings and they’re pretty much useless for anything other than off roading or daily driving. For a lot of people that fits the bill but I need more out of a vehicle. The new Defender does have to half world beating tow ratings but I hope It has decent capacities at least.

It's well known in the States that a Jeep pickup is due in 2019.
Engine options include a 3.0 V6 diesel that will also be available in the Wrangler 4dr.
Not sure if either of them will be available in Europe.

This forum is very well connected, with lot of info from inside the factory, like the chassis frame pictures.
Maybe the forum is run from inside FCA, stoking interest in new products? Whistle Wink
