Yours is fine Edo, they don,t come much better with such a low mileage and not being very old (pic below of yours).

Against seemingly everyones advice I have not been tempted to expand from home into a rented unit with a higher turnover of vehicles. Now at 52 I am taking life easier, enjoying family time, cars, boat and motorbike. I have done the stressful career, commute into London thing and I am not chasing easy money like so many others in this industry Rolling Eyes I have always kept to 1-2 vehicles a week which keeps everything at a relaxed, positive pace without the work being a chore. It,s not the sort of job to do if you are not " into" it!

So at last with permission from the council this years project has been to dig out 180 tonnes of soil (nine 20 tonne lorries) to create a new working area 8mx20m so that my work is seperate from my home garage as I work from home. I have done all the work myself and done good deals with local firms saving a fortune Wink I am just putting in railway sleepers from the local Bluebell Railway (bargain at a tenner each) for the retaining walls and now have space to work. I have two Defenders and a mint Supra in at the moment, the latter on the four post lift and am booking from November. I even have a 130 booked in from my local independent LR specialist (Simon Elliott who similarly relies on reputation not fancy websites, an honest guy, been going 35 years) Simon did his own brand new late reg model 130 which is a keeper himself with Waxoyl but has it booked in with me to do when he realised there was so much more to do on a Defender which is necessary and I will be very pleased to do a comprehensive job for him. I keep promising to do a guide for Martin for Discoveries as I have done a few of them now but still do anything from classics to brand new vehicles, campers to kit cars. I do unfortunately have to turn some away, even a 2004 RR Sports for instance that are just too gone for me to do an effective enough job for the money. I'm not doing a sole destroying pointless job for the sake of £490, really rusty vehicles get turned away... I will leave that for the whack it up on a ramp and hide it with thick black crap in a day merchants. If only folks would get them done sooner.

Thanks folks, lost two stone doing the work Shocked and am keeping the weight off, no beer or carbs Sad The inside of the house isn't tidy, especially the lounge which has a bonnet and a few other car parts stored whilst I sort out workshop space. My wife is loving me at the moment Rolling Eyes

Sorry CarMan I forgot to take a picture of your 90 and the preceding 110 which was of a similar age and also in very nice condition. They are still out there, get em treated folks against the next onslaught of salted roads Thumbs Up

Apologies if this has been asked before but what is the shelf life of Dinitrol in the real world? 18 months as stated if kept in a temperature controlled area?m

Tricky to say. If it is in the large drums with the heat bands around the drums as we need here in the UK due to the cooler climate then I would say 18 months is probably about right with a compressor. It is epoxy based (a glue) so can go off quickly in the wrong conditions/useage method!

For Aersols it is noticeable the newer they are the better it flows and comes out of the can. I keep my stock fresh and usually just order what is needed (The new Dinitrol owner which cocked up supply has sold the company apparently and supply is no longer a problem. LT is going cheap if you need any from Rejel Wink the owner thought the UK market was like Sweden where you routinely drive in to Dinitrol service centres and have your car done on a regular basis but of course we don,t have the widespread harsh Scandinavian climate...) I did once come across a can of cavity wax that was maybe 12-24 months old (old 3125 stuff that was temporarily replaced by ML) and despite heating it and shaking the hell out of it, it didn,t work. It would just dribble out of the nozzle in a lumpy way very slowly as it had already gone off.

Don,t risk buying cheaper old stock you sometimes see on EBay! Stock can be 3-4 months old already here in the UK as it comes from Germany and waits in storage.

Zagato, thank you for your great explanation (and contribution to the entire topic by the way)! Normally I am using the 1ltr cans and get a full box. Just wanted to ensure I am ok with the 18 months. m

Yes it has been under construction for a couple of years. Martin has offered to do it and we really must get it sorted my work comes in mainly through recommendations so I have not needed a site BUT I would very much like to have a good one. I have done my own in the past through Mr Site but a more impressive site is needed these days. Unfortunately many people are taken in by full page spreads in magazines and showy websites, some even with images or text "borrowed" from me... I wouldn,t mind IF they actually did the work described Rolling Eyes Despite offers of being in magazine articles, You Tube etc and requests for putting more detail on here I am reluctant to do that as some people just use it in their marketing without doing it to just rip off customers even more. I tend to get the vehicles in the end sometimes literally within a few weeks of them supposedly having been done. There is a very good LR Independant company near me that just has a simple web page, he is very good, contientious etc and has got all his work in the last 35 years from reputation. That is the best business model. I am doing his very own pride and joy late reg 130 soon as he had a go himself last time Wink I will be working right through the holidays as usual Thumbs Up

I recently had in a near new Defender in white which was perfect for clear pictures so I am all ready to get a site up... E.g. This pic can be used for bulkhead leaks and surface rust which I treat...
