United Kingdom 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Zambezi Silver
From Wikipedia, seems there is more than one 2.2;

2.2
In 2005, Ford introduced the Duratorq ZSD-422, a 2.2 L (2184 cc) turbodiesel for top-of-the-range versions of the Mondeo and Jaguar X-Type which produced 155 PS (153 hp/114 kW). This is unrelated to the PSA DW12 2.2 unit used in Peugeot and Citroën applications.
Applications:
Ford Transit
2005–2007 Ford Mondeo 2.2 TDCi 155, 155 PS (153 hp/114 kW) and 262 ft·lbf (355N·m)
2005–Present Jaguar X-Type

2.4
The 2,402 cc (2.402 L; 146.6 cu in) Duratorq ZSD-424 is a turbocharged and intercooled Diesel. Output is 75 PS (55 kW; 74 hp) to 137 PS (101 kW; 135 hp) and 185 N·m (136 lb·ft) to 285 N·m (210 lb·ft).
Applications:
Ford Transit
2002-2006 LDV Convoy
2002 London Taxi TXII
2007-onward Land Rover Defender

It's probably this one;

2.2
Based on the PSA DW12 engine[citation needed] and with a capacity of 2179 cc, this engine was released in April 2008 by Ford in the Mk IV Mondeo, soon following in the Ford S-Max and Ford Galaxy. It has been engineered by Ford in England, as described the fourth phase of the joint-venture agreement with PSA. Dagenham is the place of manufacture. It features a 16-valve cylinder head with twin belt driven camshafts and utilises a variable geometry turbocharger with overboost function, rather than the twin turbo approach of Peugeot and Citroen. The result is a very respectable 175 PS (172 hp/129 kW) complete with 295 ft·lbf (400 N·m) of torque, although 310 ft·lbf (420 N·m) is temporarily available thanks to the transient overboost function.
In 2010 Ford and PSA revised the engine with a new turbocharger and a new power output of 200 PS with a torque of 420 N·m and even 450 N·m at overboost conditions while the emissions are at Euro 5 level.

Wales 2012 Defender 90 Other SW Keswick Green
Wikipedia is outdated for puma information. All information from the Birmingham fair announcement are not in there.

It was widely speculated that the Defender might get the PSA engine, as this one is already in the Freelander, but it turned out that changes to the transmission would be too heavy. Even more, the PSA 2.2l is not certified for heavy duty use, but more stylish for the wannabes.

With Ford moving the Transit to Euro 5 with a new and modified ZSD Puma, there is the natural way to go there.

So someone who wants to buy a new Defender now needs to either get in quick to try and secure a 2.4 or hang back a few weeks to get the 2.2 depending on views on the relative merits and demerits of the engines.

I'd hurry & get the 2.4. Any engineer will tell you: extracting more power from a smaller engine will only result in more stress, leading to an early failure. Rolling Eyes

The Defender keeps getting smaller engines while the rest of the range gets better engines and gearboxes Rolling Eyes

Well, in some countries you can still get the Defender with the 300TDi engine. AFAIK Otokar, the Turkish arms manufacturer, makes them under license from LR. --

God im missing that Puma engine and gearbox.......used to look forward to the sound of emptying a bag of spanners over the drive on start up, then as she settled down to idle sounding like a T34 tank, i would slip the precision gear selector into 1st and power off into the sunset............

With my latest LR product...the D4 "Miami Vice"..3.0ltr twin turbo V6 mated to a silky smooth 6 speed auto 245bhp on tap and enough torque to pull the all of the spice girls pants off (mel b is a trollope so she dont count)

I really thought i would miss the 110.........................unfortunately i dont Big Cry

I agree with my old mate that the Defender is getting left behind and for a 60 year old design it is certainly grasping its hold on the past. Only a fortnight from my 3rd handbrake recall it won't hold on a slope. Paint bubbling up on the rear quarter panel too... Bloody ridiculous for a £33,000 car at 3 years old... I am going down the D4 Commercial route now. Sad 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

I can just see the ads for the Mitshsihakihooki now. "Land Rover 2.2, our latest 6.0,size does really matter."
I agree the regulations will kill off the Defender-just the exscuse Solihull need to ditch it and get something more economical to build. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Is the 130 dropped from the new range? If so is it down to low volumes not being economical or down to the 2.2 not being man enough for the fully laden 130? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
