Due to the new wheel arch adapters, I'm having to remake the rear speaker pods, which begs the question, Do I swap the rears for 6" focals

I'd have thought upgrades come naturally.

Well, sadly I have some bad news.
My Kenwood KVT729 HU has passed away after ten years of service. It has not been working for some time correctly, I disassembled it and it looks like some of the PCB's have gone under. This seemed to start with the removable faceplate, however, it's definitely terminal. I cannot complain, for the time I have had it and has been in three vehicles. It is now out of date anyway. So being HU less at the moment I've bought a cheapy replacement I'm off to pick up today. Quite looking forward to it, as even though the replacement is fairly cheap and basic im sure it'll sound better being much more up to date with new electronics. This will suit me for the time being rather than going around with an empty dash slot. At a later date I'm going to contemplate going 2DIN regardless of cost as this is where the industry is going. I'm also looking to move away from Kenwood as a brand and look at the alternatives. Anyone care to share how they feel about their make and model of 2DIN HU? âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸ |

I have just fitted a MUD CUBBY BOX LOCKER the slide-able version. I have a Alpine sub fitted to the back of the cubby box as fitted by landcover as an upgrade when new. I need to extend the wires so that the sub slides with the cubby or extend the wires and fit in a completely different place.
Any advice going on this? Also to make it easier I thought it would be better to get a male and female of this connector to use as the extension lead. But can't find anyone who sells them. I think its a Yesc Kaizen connector any ideas? Cheers Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Could always change the connector to one you want to use. If you can't find one just as easy to cut the connector off and extend the cables to where ever they need to go.
Heres what I did with mine, same sub just not from LR. Click image to enlarge Image shows the underside of the Mud locker, the wiring is from the sub. |

Fitted my new Raptor Dash and Double Din!
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge So far it has - Twin 5v USB Single 12v Socket Single USB for memory sticks, music, video etc.. but also charges 3.5mm Aux Bluetooth - Calls & Music External Mic for Calls HDMI & MHL Spotify Link DVD Player Voltmeter Reverse Camera (switches to video when in reverse) Parking Sensors + Switch to turn off when off road So many features! Got a few bits on order to get the full benefit from it such as DAB Aerial & Air Cast dongle (wireless screen mirroring on Android). Eventually TV will go in as you can get a decent tuner for around £50! Tell you with all the extra wiring it only JUST fits! Very happy though! |

Haven't been on this thread for a long time, mainly due to having little reason to really.
Everything is fine my end, my Kenwood DVD HU finally went under late last year after nearly ten years use! Not the end of the world as it was quite out of date anyway. I'm probably going to go for that new Pioneer version at some point but at the cost, is a limiting factor so that maybe an if and when kind of thing. For now I'm just running a mechless iPhone, iPod etc compatible JVC unit which was cheap at £40. It'll do for the time being, and is surprisingly good for the price! Sound is actually better than the KW, probably due to being so much more modern. I'm intending to remove my current Kenwood speakers also, they have been good but there are much better on the market now but they are fully working and nit half bad. I have plans to replace them, but will be 10cm swap but I won't be going up to 13cm. I'm also intending to leave all factory wiring in situ, but rewire with ISO plugs so I can keep everything separate and revert back if I needed to. I'm planning to Amp all four speakers, with Daisy chain input from my existing Amp for my sub RCA's to the new Amp. This has master Amp control also. Speaker grilles are also very trick, and suits my set up well. All in, quite pricy though but might try and go for it Christmas + Would be imported from the USA so might be even longer. Other than that, that's the only info you are getting. I've also got other interior upgrades planned, relatively minor and not audio related though. âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸ |

Not sure if I'm talking to myself here or not but.... 😅
Has anyone fitted speakers on the door panels /cards? If so what size? I think there are posts on this thread but 52 pages or so takes some going through. âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸ |
