United Kingdom 2015 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Santorini Black
Quick update .... two switches covered up when the screen is open so will be moving them to this new Mudstuff pod. Includes a third position for a spare switch . Just test fitted for now with only one switch in the picture and the final gauge will be a voltmeter. Doesnt accommodate the hazzard switch but this is used so rarely anyway. 👍
Apologies for the green logo on the screen. I am going to re size it 👍

Vitesse, do you remember if there was an HDMI input on the back of the head unit? I remember reading there was one but its not listed on Pioneers website and Im guessing Ive now made this up. Ive a pioneer double din CarPlay unit in my other car with one so maybe thats where Im getting my wires crossed.

Hi all, really interested in this HU.

Could someone who's fitted one let me know which ISO connector p/n and DAB splitter they used?

HI. The unit comes with a DAB and VHF amplifier but you have to supply the DAB antenna. I purchased the ISO connector from MUDSTUFF suitable for PUMA, (approx 12 i think)

Hope that helps? PMme if you need in depth detail about install..

What are peoples thoughts on the unit having used it for a bit?

I have gone down the double din route on one of the defenders which I do love but wouldn't mind avoiding that headache again on the other defender Laughing

Watching this thread with interest.

I'm just running a cheap one for now but will be looking to upgrade at some point, my old one after around 8 years good service from my old Kenwoo finally gave up last year. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

I have had this a while now and it really has been excellent. Main advantage is the raised position of the screen compared to the standard double din location. I guess thats personal choice. The functions of the HU make it safer to drive and now have a bigger sat nav screen from the iPhone. This is now re located to the cubby box. The only down side to my mind is that the screen covers the two inner switches and hazzard switch. I am re locating them as part of other unrelated mods but it isnt vital. Just personal choice. Does it let you use just basic phone functions like music, videos, calls etc only.
Or does it let you use apps etc too?

If so, I'm wondering if it would be useful for OS mapping app with the phone using its GPS a mirrored screen so to speak ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

If you have an Apple device, your choice of maps is locked to Apple maps when using CarPlay, Android phones dont have this problem so can used including Google Maps and Waze . Also with iOS you are limited to apps that have a CarPlay function, which is also at the discretion of Apple. No video apps (eg. Netflix) work on the screen, my current device only shows a handful of music/radio apps. I dont have an Android device so havent played about with Android Auto but Id expect theres be a wider selection of apps as Google dont lock down their OS as much as Apple.

Ah I see, pity as that would have been a superb system to use GPS mapping by road and OS mapping for off the road.
They always do these sort of things, where there could be superb features they won't let you due to so called compatibility which is in my view deliberate for financial purposes.

Better use really just using iPhone on the windscreen, especially if it's a larger iPhone.

On a different note, I think it's a great pity this unit doesn't have HDMI seeing a it is jam packed with other brilliant features.
It ticks nearly all boxes but that single one would just finish it off to do everything in my view.

HDMI input, would allow you to use HD Freeview TV, not whilst driving which is obvious but whilst parked up or you could listen to it.
If you had deep pockets and a 110 you could also stream this to AV screens to rear passengers on the rears of the headrest.
But that would cost a lot of money.

You could still do this using AV in, even if you have a rear cam also as there are two channels.
But you would only get SD quality, and I'm not sure what quality you'd get picture wise.
My guess is, not too bad but not brilliant either.

Should anyone wish to try it, there are plenty of DVBT tuners on eBay for quite a good price, not sure if Pinoneer do one?
Prices are very reasonable compared to the HU, and a lot cheaper than they used to be.

At some point in the future, despite the lack of HDMI I'll probably go for this HU. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️
