Thanks, my current head unit is playing up. Loses signal on the radio to often and then would be problematic on phonecalls. Had it 4yrs I think so time to upgrade 110 D250 SE HT

This week installed Sony XAV-AX8050D. It has fixed screen. Got in on Amazon Prime day for 399 EUR. Probably had to remove screen for yearly inspection or relocate hazard warning button. But all top buttons are reachable. Click image to enlarge |

Yes, the Alpine ILX 107 (and perhaps similar other Alpine models) is a single DIN unit with fixed screen and with wireless Apple CarPlay. I have mine also receiving reversing camera

That road top device looks interesting Chopcat - I would love to install a carplay screen but have so far resisted as I'm not convinced by the default location in the Puma dash, even with the double-din conversion - I'm tall and it's just too low for me if I was to use it for satnav.
What I'm not sure of is that it may not have a hard-wire option, just uses an FM transmitter? |

Question for those that have installed a single din touch screen unit
How did you securely mount the single din unit within the dash? I understand some use the radio cage / sleeve However I have the Sony XAV-AV8000 and I think I need a mounting bracket on each side for the 9mm screws, but cant find where to buy these from for the defender (MY13). Even with these brackets on the unit, what did you fix the brackets to within the dash to keep it lock it in? Thanks in advance |
