19.9mpg on last fill, (thats 230miles trip with my challenge truck behind it) so worse than the td5 in the same scenario.
25mpg average over the first 1k miles. Cheers James 110 2010 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

Just completed 1200 mile round trip to Scotland.
110 fully loaded with 4 adults, 1 child and about as much luggage as is possible to fit in the back (which is quite a lot). Mostly motorway driving between 65 and 80. Very comfortable; no issues. Average fuel consumption of 23.6 mpg (UK) |

Hi GTV, what do you mean with "crazed rattle mode", can you describe it? |

I've had plenty of noise with my previous two fuel rails. Especially after start up and driving a couple of 100 meters. I tried not to exceed 2000rpm when cold, imagine that this was a critical figure when cold. Both previous fuel rails resulting in fault messages. First fuel rail, no indication, but fault message stored. Second fuel rail, 'check engine light' was illuminated and fault message stored. When using the Webasto engine pre heater (on the two first fuel rails), there were less noise from cold, but heavy knocking from time to time. The fuel rail installed now is as I said, the most quiet one. The engine feels like it's had an engine tuning ![]() I'm not talking about normal diesel engine knocking!! 08MY Defender 2.4 SE |

I have had about 6 or 7 fuel rails and sensors.
It is at the dealers again, they took it for a test drive this mornign so to prove or dissprove my complaint for the last 14 months about how awful and noisy it is when cold. I think after all these fuel trails it must be something else. |

No mine does the death rattle (sounds like it is about to explode) I have been fighting LR for 14 months now on this. Sometimes when it does it shuts every thing down and has to be recovered (about 10 times) other times not. They simply put a new fuel rail on and give it back. Now LR (not dealers) say they want proof it is doing it (they think I am some kind of nutter who is making it up). Today (hopefully) the two managers went out in it and it (I am told but waiting for them to confirm) did it to them. When it does its death rattle it also takes off up to 2.5rpm and drives its self for about 3 to 7 seconds and the only way to stop is depress the clutch. Using the foot break only will not stop it as i found out when it shot accross a junction on the main A6 nearly killing me and the drivers of the two cars who just missed me. ![]() ![]() |

Sounds a little worse
![]() almost as bad as our new freelander on the M42 when it refused to disengage cruise control. from inside to middle lane - classic car there doing 50 couldnt go back into inside, outerlane full (again classic) ended up jamming my foot on the brake peddle as the 3rd time it re-engaged back up to 70 was no fun Mike |

Just return from a bush trip driving on gravel and bad road by previous day heavy rain. The average is now at 10.6 liter per 100 km. Meiring II is now weighted to about 4 tonnes fully loaden (as it was for hte week end) and i got a roof tent on top of the alu hard top which is 2 inches above the roof of the dual cab.
Very happy with the fuel usage. ![]() Stephan Stephan Meiring II - 130 Puma 2008 Meiring I - 110 200TDI 1989/1991 |
