I get about 100 to 120 miles on the first 1/4 tank. When it was new I could get 130 plus.

My low fuel light comes on between 300 & 320 miles, and I fill up - but after watching JC drive that Jag on Top Gear at the weekend, I'm wondering how many more miles are still in the tank... (Not that I want to russian roulette it - I did 340 the other night looking for a garage, and was starting to worry in case it was closed!)

If you didn't see TG - basically after the Jag's gauge and computer both showed the tank as empty, when mechanics checked, there was still several gallons left in it.

only got just over 2 k on the clock so not had many fills . ignoring the 20mpg running it in I can get about 27/28 MPG cruising around the 60 mark without to much effort the last tank (heres hoping that continues). Ive also discovered that without to much effort i can reduce it to about 24 mpg if a bit aggressive. If it aint broke its just waiting.

Just had to go and see a customer so filled it up on my return and I got 20.7 mpg driving like a granny. Just spoke to the dealers again who say there is nothing I can do.

Ouch - the dealers will always say that; shame.

whats the book value for yours, if what you achieved is much lower and your standard then you must have a case??

mine did 26/27 with the roof tent and kit in never lower. It did 1 blip journey with 20 when i had it, but i think that was due to another fault. Around 30 is the average i think its 29 on this tank Mike

Just coming up to 400 miles on a tank, reckon there is another 50 miles of fuel left in the tank so approx 27 mpg.

I know this is a bit cheeky but if there is anyone here who has a 110 with roof rack like mine and gets better than 25mpg and is willing to write a letter with name and address stating what mpg you get would be immensely useful to me. Dealers and land rover both say it’s the roof rack. They can’t tell why it did 27 when it was new with all the kit and then dropped off to less than 20 (it has done 24 when doing 55/60 on the motorway), strangely at the same time the engine trouble started.

Do you think the big rubber has much of a detrimental effect?

are you adding anything for the larger tyres, they look like 33" so about 10% bigger than std to make a comparison.

Roofrack would cost 10% i would reckon not as much as you are experiencing. Cheers

Tyres are 285/75's and have only been on the vehilce for a week so don't really come into the equation. I will be removing the wheels land tyres form the lr after the wekend and put the stock ones back on.

Ok.
I agree anyway that even with the rack, lights & tyres it would still seem reasonable to expect 25mpg...

heavy mpg combined with the noisey engine when cold and it has started to use oil (not a lot but enough to notice). With the constant breakdowns it does suggest that things are not right.
