Absolutely amazing build. Great info on the Koni shocks and that you had to up to 25mm hd anti roll bars.
Any further ideas on where you are mounting the air tank? |

Hi Ian, Thank you for the kind words! Like all these projects they are never really finished I guess. The Koni shocks are brilliant without a doubt, I just think my vehicle was a bit heavier than the standard set up on top due to the external roll cage and the roof rack. I will say that the HD Anti Roll bars certainly transformed the handling and were well worth the expense. To be honest I haven't been in the country for around 6 weeks so I haven't been able to carry out any work on the truck as of late. However the following is planned when I get back: - Finally wire up the Light Force 170 roof rack spot lamps - Wire up the two rear LED flood lamps - Fit two new Tdci XS Heated front seats and wire these up - Fit new XS seat covers purchased for the Tdci Second Row Seats to match the front. - Remove all wheels and tyres - wheels to be repainted in satin black and the BFG KM2's taken off and replaced by 265 75 16 General Grabber AT2's. I will keep the BFG KM2s for muddy adventures. - Remove and service the front double de-cardan propeller shaft. Then I might get some time to sort out the air tank and compressor placement! The trouble I have is I wanted to fit another sill tank on the left hand side for water at around 65L, this however would be the perfect place for the receiver tank though. At the moment I am still very much undecided on what to do with this. I also have all the air pipework, fittings and quick disconnect airline outlets that I want to fit to pipe air around the truck to make it easy to air up tyres - again this is a work in progress type thing. Just reading through this all again. I'm absolutely blown away.
Absolutely the best defender I've ever seen in my entire life, no shadow of a doubt! Simply incredible. Nothing over the top or superfluous and no corners cut. I would have thought it would be worth at least double what a new one would be! Simply incredible, well done.  my dream one day! Cheers, David

I often get asked why didn't you just buy a new one, some people I guess just don't understand Defenders and likely never will. I'm worried that they are going to hold their value more now at the end of the year.
I need one as a donor vehicle for my build. They're expensive enough already for salvage ones 
I think the simple reason is that people have in your head the ideal vehicle. Some achieve it through simply fitting a black pack or NAS lights etc. Some achieve it from a ground up rebuild like yourself. You know then that you've got the best vehicle you want. I want a V8 auto Defender. They don't make them anymore so I have to build it. I want a 90 for its size but I want a 110 for its space. They don't make it so for me it'll be a 100" with the 2 flip down seats. Well that's a couple of reasons why I want to do a self build but the list is very long of why I want to do one. Your build is great inspiration to people that want to build one. Just read the thread from start to finish. Huge thanks for all the photos and info, they shall be saved for later referral, as my ambition is to fully 'overland-prep' my 110. A simply exceptional re-build, as many have said, the best I've seen. Brilliant. Makes me feel not a little humble as I was considering uploading my 'project' which was merely adding some 'bling' to a 2011 110SW. Think I'll pass now!! If you ever drive back to the UK, do pop into Chamonix and say hello, be great to see the vehicle in the flesh....Great job.

What a fabulous thread. Read from start to finish and enjoyed far more than any of the apparently LR-related comics one can buy in WHSmith. Thank you very much. Now, where do I send my Ł4.00...?
You may have mentioned it, though I did not see it. What headlamp protectors have you used? I fancy some additional protection and security for my Noldens but do not want to drill any uncovered bodywork. Thanks, Joel |

Joel, I think they look the same as mine and are the new, lower-profile Masai lamp guards (if you're referring to the front). Very smart, easy to fit.
