Gibraltar 2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Java Black
Diff oil change plug torque
Hi everyone,
Any idea of the tightness of the drain and filler plug on the diff (nothing in the manual)?
I am sure it is a tapered fit but not sure how tight it should be.
Any contributions gratefully received.

Aren't drain and fill plugs generally the kind of thing you just tighten "enough". I know that's the way it used to be anyway in the good old days Smile

I can't find any spec anywhere, even for a series LR. Just don't wind the plug all the way into the diff, that's a real PITA!

Cheers,

Thanks, all, for your help.
Will approach the tightening up with caution!

Front drain and filler plugs are 60nm (44lb ft) according to the workshop manual, rear is not specified.

In the Defender manual pre Puma it gives 55-64 Nm or 40-47 lbf ft. It would appear that bob neville is bang on. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
