I can't do a step by step but one thing for sure is the new filter must be completely filled and primed with diesel before fitting.
Otherwise you'll have a lot of issues with the fuel priming system on the Puma. I'm sure an expert will be along shortly to explain things in more depth of detail. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 Last edited by custom90 on 26th Jul 2018 3:30pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Instead of filling the fuel filter and holder full of diesel fill it with Millers Diesel Power Ecomax Fuel Additive this gives your pumps and injectors etc a real good clean. I have been doing this for years and it works. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Shouldn't be an issue on the 2.2 - it has an electric lift pump. |

I have been using a bottle of injector cleaner with almost EVERY fill up. Hoping it makes a difference in the long run. |

Hi gilarion,
I'm presuming the fuel goes straight from the filter to the engine. Doesn't that mean your engine will be running on almost neat Miller's Ecomax for several minutes? If 50ml or so is designed to go in a whole tank of fuel to boost the cetane rating by 4, then I'm surprised running an engine on it alone, doesn't cause damage. But clearly not as you have been doing it for years. I'm not so sure I would want to go down that route though. |

I been using Forte for many years, when ever I change the fuel filter alway put this into the filter neat and run the engine on tick over for 10min
Both my Landy and Mk4 Hilux I would not personally use Millers due to the fact it increases the cetane rating as you have noted From RoughtTrax web page https://www.roughtrax4x4.com/forte-diesel-...itive.html Forte diesel fuel system cleaner 400ml additive is specifically formulated for diesel engines with an easy pour nozzle which can be added directly to the tank or for best results added directly to the a new fuel filter where you will noticeably see the emissions drop and fuel consumption increase, tests have proven up to a 14% fuel saving! Adding direct to the fuel filter means it’s more concentrated and significantly helps the bleeding process of the filter. A true must have for every service. Treatment is recommended every 6 months or 6,000 miles (whichever is sooner) or the same as your standard service schedule. Why we advise Forté Diesel Fuel System Cleaner on every service; - Reduces noxious exhaust emissions & fuel consumption, great before an MOT. - Cleans the entire fuel system. - Reduces black smoke emissions. - Reduces varnish & combustion build up which restores injector spay pattern. - Controls fuel oxidation & gum, varnish & acid formation - Improves engine performance and response. - Maintains EGR valve and variable vane turbo cleanliness. - Reduces valve, cumbustion chanber, EGR valve & variable vane turbo deposits. - Lubricates and extend the life of injectors and fuel pump. - Improves driveability & cold starting. - Prevents fuel system corrosion. - Compatible with all diesel catalytic converters and particulate filters. - Compatible with all diesel fuels including bio-diesel up to B30. Forté Advanced Formula Diesel Fuel Fuel System Cleaner has been specifically formulated to combat driveability concerns caused by the by-products of combustion and the adverse effects of fuel degradation. Not only does it clean and lubricates the whole of the fuel system both pre and post-combustion. It improves overall engine power and efficiency, as well as considerably reducing costly down time and component replacement in direct and indirect injection engines. It is compatible with common rail direct injection and Pumpe Düse diesel engines and does not affect the cetane rating of diesel fuel. For turbo diesel models it is also recommended to be used in conjunction with Forté Diesel Turbo Cleaner and when the symptoms indicate necessary. Forté products are developed for professional trade use only. |
