did brakes come on as you were moving? first time I'm not sure - started up moved off and noticed within say 10 metres, second it was progressive while stuck in traffic?
if so fast or slow? came on slow(ish) - not like it was going to cause a real danger any work been done on brakes lately? - no works undertaken on brakes did brakes stay on after you braked? - brakes stayed on and slight touch of brakes brought them to virtually locking (as I write this I'm thinking oversevo'd !?) have the brakes got hot? not sure about brakes getting hot but have slight suspicion of yes) all the brakes or one wheel or axle etc? - I believe it was all brakes any noises ? - no noises (other than from myself ) how hard did they come on - still able to move ..... I would suggest 80% on ? |

are you still driving it or is it off road at moment if brakes have got hot , the discs normally have a orange look to them |

just another thought.
I don't believe this is anything to do with anything but thought I'd mention it anyway. gave the ancillary belt a good squirt of wd40 ( ).... could that impact on the brake servo and hence cause some kind of fail safe? |

Why are you spraying the belt with WD40? Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

from wd40 website
What surfaces or materials are OK to use WD-40 Multi-Use Product on? WD-40 Multi-Use Product can be used on just about everything. It is safe to use on metal, rubber, wood and plastic. It can also be applied to painted metal surfaces without harming the paint. Polycarbonate and clear polystyrene plastic are among the few surfaces on which to avoid using a petroleum-based product like WD-40 Multi-Use Product. BUT I WOULD NOT PUT IT ON A BELT THAT YOU WANT TO GRIP ! if I sprayed it and a bit went on a rubber part I would not worry , but I would not use it to spray rubber repeatedly Last edited by munch90 on 3rd Jul 2014 3:03pm. WD40 is utter dog5hit,It's way over priced,it cooks like chip pan fat on hot surfaces and turns brown,it rots certain rubbers/plastics,its meh at freeing rusty nuts and it doesn't clean electrical contacts its leaves a thin film of oil which attracts dirt,to clean electrics buy proper contact cleaner.Dunno why you would spray anything on a belt tho, lol?
I would have thort it needs a short to activate the abs/brakes whilst driving maybe start looking for dodgy wiring. Definitely brakes coming on,not the engine briefly cutting out? Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5. |

well if THEY ( and not someone they know ) have had a problem then they should get on the people who make wd-40
but I like I said I would not repeatedly spray it on rubber |

Did I mention wd40 and rubber They same as me had a look around the brake pedal because of the suspect brake / clutch switch wiring and heard a click from brake pedal and then all fine??? Driving home tonight all good and I might even go as far as to say it drove best it ever has with what I would describe as perfect rev hang to perform perfect gear changes. Engine was smooth and really responsive. A very big just didn't last but brakes still fine.? |
