Some officious garages won't fit them to 7 x 16, so best ask before hand Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

Fitting shouldn't be a problem, a good friend owns a recovery garage with a tyre centre, so shouldn't get any advice unless asked for.
No-one seems to know of/mentioned any problems after having 285's fitted to 7's though, have they? They're not going to get too much abuse anyway. *edit - Cheers, Glyn, I'm considering the 30mm spacer option aswell. Waiting to hear about some at the moment. Any particular make I should look out for, or any particular material, etc? Mark 2011 110 XS DC Stornoway Grey |

Try and get the spacers with the center wheel alignment on them as people have had issues with wheel vibration as the wheel dos not sit right

Yes mate, I remember that 'hubcentric' (I think its called) when I had a set for an Audi some time ago... just wondered if anyone had any recommendations for makes, etc?

Muddy mark, thanks for the Pm, my 30mm spacers for sale are top quality with the hubcentric design
I have wound my lock stops right in and you get a great turning circle, they do rub slightly on full lock but nothing to worry about, i just backed off a touch when required. I have run 285s on boosts for ages and never had a problem. You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things |

Just to confuse matter and opinions, spoke to silverline today was set on what i was going to get and i was advised i would need a lift the vehicle to run 285 as these would foul He has advised go 265 then no lift and no spacers using modulars
I am getting confused. I know if I use the boosts I need spacers (thanx glyn) but thought the 285 on modulars would be fine |

I think they are being extra safe. I guess it will depend on the tyres too. Ifit comes to the worst just sticking a set of extended bump stops will prevent fouling......but jut look around the site and you will see many running 285s with no problems and even 33x12.5 which are even bigger!! Getting 265s and then getting a lift followed by 285s and you will end up being Steve's mini-me Glyn |

You dont need spacers on modulars Tony, they have a big off set as standard...i.e the wheels are further out from the hubs than boosts....you dont need a lift either as you have heavy duty springs on the back of a utility
Glynne is right, ive spent a bloody fortune messin about...get the 285s on modulars and see how you get on..you may only have a slight chance of fouling on maximum articulation which wont be that often. If you do then a set of springs is a lot cheaper than another set of tyres You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things |
