Focal Speaker Upgrade
Hi All,

After a week of ownership Im loving the D90. However the factory speakers are C**P. As Im a fan of Focal I decided to fit a set of K2 KRS 100 in the front and PC100 in the rear. What a massive improvement over the standard setup. I know speakers have been done to death put I thought I would share some pics to help those that are thinking about doing it. I wanted a factory look so kept the standard 4 setup.

are they a direct plug and play replacement or is additional wiring needed?

Best driven off an amplifier. I've done the same upgrade, but with 13cm polyglass VRS speakers, and a Rockford Punch amp. Mr. Green

Rears = Straight swap

Fronts
Tweeters are pre wired but need connecting to the crossover (pictured)
Existing speaker connection need changing for forks and simply connect to the crossover . Then create a small link cable for the mids.

Velcro crossover to inside of dash. All installed in under 1.5 hrs.

When I dyno mat the rear I will replace the speaker cable as the factory is very thin.

I have same front upgrade ready to fit and bought iBus 2.1 under seat sub to add to the system.

Fitted sub today and decided to run the cables under vehicle rather than inside to make a neater install.

Where did you fit the crossovers as not much room on offside

Just inside the dash againt the section by the door. You need to clean well as its a bit dusty inside.

I think imgoing for a Alpne SWE-1200 as a friend has one and it seems to work well with the focals. How did you run the sub cable from the head unit?

I have an Alpine sub, intended to fit under lesser car seats which have more room. Mine is under the rear seat and has made a tremendous difference to the sound. I have Alpines in the dash too but they made less of a difference - still good though.

Neat. Cool How did you gain access to position the cross overs again? Did you pull the dash back a bit or go though the speaker holes? Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Thanks

All installed via the speaker hole. No need to disturb the dash. All I did was cable tie the old tweeter cables to stop vibrating.

That's a good idea with the cable ties. On a rough road it can be highly annoying cables vibrating I have a heck of a lot behind there so I know.
How did you get on on the off side with the heater vent tubing in the way? Or was there enough room around that?
