5W30 WSS-M2C913-B = ACEA A1/B1 (A1/B1 are Much better)

ACEA A1/B1 is superseded by ACEA 2008 A5/B5 (much better)

Conclusion: in our Ford engine USE ACEA A5/B5 specs. oils

So you can use Mobil1 5W30 ESP Formula (The best!!!)
or Motul 8100 Eco-nergy 5W30
or Castrol Magnatec A1 Professional 5W30

in my opinion Mobil1 are better than Motul and Motul are better than Castrol.

see HERE .

Note that VW 50700 spec are wider than A5/B5 and Mobil1 ESP cover the VW50700 Spec.

Ford ..913-B, A1/B1 and A5/B5 are olis with LOW HTHS for low consumption

but.......

I have just checked the Castrol website here in Australia, and they recommend 0-40 Edge. The handbook says 5-30, and neither of these Castrol oils comply with the spec in the book.

I am confused.

Higher specs (like Dgardel quotes) doesnīt mean it is better.

Example: V12 (2-stroke) Detriot Diesel engines mounted on drilling rigs or power generators needed only API-CC spec. Many people made the mistake to use the higher spec API-CD on them. Guess what?

The thing with Fordīs oil specs for defenders resides on the fact of fuel economy bussiness by using Low-HSHT values. I would prefer, however to use a High-HSHT in detriment of fuel economy. So these are the 2 cases where I see the manufacturer being so strict with oil specs. Puma 110" SW

I'm not totally agree with you, if you compare the same specific specs, the oil IS better! ACEA A5/B5 IS better than ACEA A1/B1

Please explain me why API-CD isn't better than CC spec.

In other case spec ARE different so you cannot compare it totally eg ACEA A5/B5 with ACEA A3/B4.

High HTHS IS ALWAYS better than low HTHS, in my opinion and experience.

I use Mobil1 high HTHS on my Defender (Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W-40). Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

Well Iīm not a specialist. Ash content of CD oils killed the engines. Higher spec, but not good at all for that engine. Puma 110" SW

LR Dealership in Kuwait uses 10w-60...Mobil-1 10w-60 has a Viscosity Index (V.I.) of 177...While Mobil-1 5w-30 V.I. is 164...

Does a higher V.I. mean a better oil spec for the Puma ?

Hey Guys,
Why don't we comply with what it says in the 'book of words' - Castrol Magnatec 10/30!
However, if in Dubai - check with Tech Dept at Land Rover.
In Gibraltar and Andalucia where it is hot in summer, I use what it says in the book and it's fine
