5w-30 is the standard grade engine oil for UK Fords, so it would figure that the 2.4 would be designed for using that in the UK. If you go to Halfords and loook at their own-brand oils, the 5w-30 suggests that it is used for modern Fords.
I am happy to stick with 5w-30 in my Defender (when I get it), its the brand I am strugglign to gauge. Halfords, Duckhams, Castrol Magnatec, or A.N.Other |

I don't wont to kill the engine for the sake of saving a few quid but can anyone tell me if Chevron 5W-30. ACEA A5/B5 & API SL/CF should be fine?
at c£7 for 4 ltrs seems like a good choice? thanks and happy new year to you all. |

When me and the missus where in our local Costco last week I noticed that Chevron 5w30 fully synthetic was £35 for 25litres. May have to get 5 gallon's next time I'm up there as this seems a good price

YES!!! Had an argument with a local [not very good] motor spares place round our way about this! He was trying to tell me that some B4 spec 5W30 stuff would be fine in the Land Rover 'because they use it in taxi's'. Hmmmmmmmmm. Properly wouldn't let me leave the shop without buying something lubey. Quite an unusual experience, it has to be said! Bought a Magic Tree too keep him happy and never returned. Freakiest shop ever. |
