Afternoon all,
I've just done this courtesy of eBay (with a bit of a false start) and it works perfectly! I bought the Audi part first (321 955 531 A) and it didn't work. In fact it functioned exactly the same as the original. So I bought the VW part (357 955 531) and it works great. This place is a really useful source of information. Pete |

Anyone else doing this, who is an electrical numbskull like myself, should look for Lucas relay AMR2341 on a TD5 - behind the instrument cluser on the right hand side.
New relay clever little upgrade - like the 3 wipes only on wash cycle. 2001 TD5 110 DCPU in Bonatti Grey |

Just got a couple of these, out of a VW Polo from a breaker for £14 yet they look like new.
At less than a minute, this has to be the quickest and easiest, yet worthwhile mod I've done ![]() Just got to sort out the back one now but decided it's too cold to be faffing around outside today ![]() 2007 90 Hard Top - 2009 BMW F800GS - 2002 CCM 604E Dual Sport Project90 |

To confirm this is indeed the best mod in the least possible time, just get yourself a new relay and swap over.
Driver adjusted front intermittent wiper is now working perfectly. Now for the rear... which involves more wiring. |

Search for +rear +wiper and you will find the thread, the front is a pure relay swap the rear requires an additional relay plus some wiring. In a Puma the front really is get a new relay and swap over and hey presto.

I know it's bad form to drag up old posts but I was amused to get an email from mm4x4 pushing their latest products................they are selling these same relays, Hella branded for £16+VAT http://www.mm-4x4.com/defender-200tdi--300...4212-p.asp At least you can get one from them if you haven't done the mod yet knowing that you have got some gaureentee

That's not a bad price for a new one. ISTR the VW one was around £40, although obviously a lot cheaper on eBay. Darren

Just completed this mod. Really plug and play, however.....
First bought on ebay a Hella "wiper relay programmable", part #AMR2341DELAY or 5WG 003 620-08 Does not work ![]() Then called my VW dealer and asked for the first VW relay code posted by dgardel which also show in his pictures of this VW relay (357 955 531) VW dealer told me that this code is obsolete now, and was replaced by a new VW parts code (2nd one mentioned by dgardel). I have added 2 pictures of this new relay here for those who would still like to make this mod so that they can immediately order the correct current part nbr. Most important, it works a treat ![]() ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge You never actually own a Defender. Eric ... not sure if this will help but I picked my relay up in Lausanne, there is a huge VW/Audi/Sko-sh!te warehouse / dealership, but like most things in CH, you pay top-dollar - probably best to ebay it
