Push a socket through it in a vice if you can, with a larger socket one side and a smaller one on the inside, be sure the smaller one isn’t tapered so won’t get stuck so a socket about 1 - 2mm smaller than the outer is ideal.

You might need a large vice though admittedly, which you may not have. No Guts, No Glory.

D44 do some nice ones as well, but they are more competition spec. No Guts, No Glory.

I'd suggest you haven't quite cut through the bush...... But you're nearly there 👍🏼

this is the method i use, either in a vice or hit with a sledge hammer (prior to getting a press) dont expect to use the impact socket again after the sledge method. Cheers

JST, I’ve got some redundant sockets around that I can afford to lose. I don’t have a vice, so if I used the sledge technique, what do I do it against? The ground? Concrete? I’m trying heat next. See where that gets me. But once this side is out, I’m taking the other straight to the garage. Really annoying as all parts (including the a-frame ball joint) are ready to put back in and I’ll need the Def for a (potentially snowy) drive up to 2000m on Sat am. Need it done by then. Nope, no vice. What if I push reeeealy hard? Rolling with laughter

Going for the heat, cut and chisel (more) technique first. Then might do some bish, bash, bosh over lunch… Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

Yeah, you've done the learning bit, second one will be a piece of cake... Buy something else with the money you save from garage cost 😉

I’ve got a pal with a 100 ton press lined up for bush swaps, hoping not to need anything larger 😂

Never had anything need more than about 7t and that was to disintegrate an L322 wheel bearing. A bit of thin oil, particularly when it starts moving makes things a lot easier. Ed

Well, the first took 2-3hrs to get out. The second 20mins. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Glad I didn’t take it to a garage. Rolling with laughter

Another question. I’ve got standard replacement bushes (the version with two metal tubes with rubber sandwiched in between), but I’m wondering about a polybush version. What brand would anyone recommend?
