Hadn't even occurred to me (sniff) Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Last year I used a big piece of card covered in Bacofoil, and it did make an improvement to the warm up time.

Sure was. I only have a short drive to work, so once we get into December I need all the warm up help I can get.

I quite fancy one of these as I also sometime do very short runs in the early hours and the engine does not get chance to warm up. Is the exmoor one the best or are there other options for a slightly more restricted budget? 2011 110 USW

I bought an Exmoor Trim one a little while ago but was so disappointed with the way it fits that I sent it back.
It works by clipping over the grill itself, but I found that to be tight enough not to fall off, it actually distorts the grill. The clips that secure it aren't very secure either. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Another drawback is that it would be very susceptible to being pinched! There's got to be a better solution for nearly £50 Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Thats no good if it damages the grille. I have seen ex-army ones but they are very, well, army to look at. 2011 110 USW

This is what ebay brings up - http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=land...m270.l1313
But no indication of how these attach, or indeed if fixings are supplied. Don't like the sound of the ones attached with cable ties... 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Am I missing a point here but, in my mind just open the bonnet, whip out your pozidrive screwdriver and take off the plastic panel off the top of the radiators(4 screw fastners, TD5) Place a fabric or sheet material to block off part of the coolant radiator inbetween the two radiators. That way there is nothing to be nicked off the front and at least you are still allowing air flow to the intercooler, may be a bit buffered as it is choked from behind. Just a thought

I tried what JWL suggests last year, and indeed the defender warmed up more quickly.
What I found was that once warm the viscous fan just stayed on - making noise and using fuel In the end I resorted to returning to normal. Steve Defender 90 TD5 Station Wagon Discovery 3 HSE BMW 330i Coupe |

a key thing here is not to block airflow to the intercooler

I wasn't suggesting blocking off the whole of the radiator, just reducing the flow through a portion of it.

I use mine for Lansing in the height of winter as my 300Tdi runs stone-cold at the usual laning speeds.
