Yeah, I think so. Because the zips hold the flap taught, it's possible to fold the flap inside and then zip it down to the required level. I'll have a play later and take some more pics. Darren

I quite like the look of those and nearly bought one but the big eyelets put me off a bit. Still, if it does the job then Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

I doubt it without major surgery, to be honest. I bought one and sent it back as I thought it was so poor. Firstly, it clips around the top corners of the grill and, in order to get it tight enough to not fall off, it distorts the grill. Click image to enlarge Secondly, the clips are designed to hook under the lower grill slats with the material of the muff trapped underneath. I found this arrangement to be really hit and miss and I was worried that it would just fall off. Click image to enlarge Finally, it's incredibly easy to remove, which makes it very nickable For best part of £50, it's a less than ideal solution. As far as this new one goes, I've suggested to the vendor that he replace the eyelets with a velcro sealed slit to give access to the fixing, so it's possible that he'll change the design. Dunno, to be honest. I went for PVC as it's generally maintenance free. It seemed to be a fairly harsh environment for a bit of canvas to live, but I might be wrong.
As promised earlier, here's a picture of it partly open: Click image to enlarge Whilst it seems instintively wrong, by folding the flap inside to the required height and pullling the zips down tight, it's actually very secure. I can't see any reason why it would move on the road. The light does, however, make it look like it's sprouted a beak You do get a much wider opening than on other versions, so I suspect it could be a lot more closed than that to get a happy balance on the temperature front. Time will tell... Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Sorry to drag this thread back up again but I had to share my brilliant experience dealing with globe roamer. After researching which radiator muff I liked the look of for the last couple of days I ended up seeing this thread and decided on the globe roamer muff. I looked at there website yesterday lunch and ordered at 1pm from the very helpfull Alex and it arrived at 11am today!!! Great communication and less than 24 hours from seeing their website to delivery. It's probably the best service I've had with any long distance purchase and the product fits perfectly.
Sorry for the esay but I was very impressed Ray |

Interestingly I used my Exmoor rad muff when I went to Arctic Norway/Finland last February in the TDCi. As an experiment I removed the muff at -40C temps and it made NO differnece to the temp guage reading - ie middle. The journeys were long/constant speed rather than stop/start.
To stop it being easily nicked and to make the lower edge sit nicely I put two tie wraps around the material to hold it taught to the grille. This winter I will not bother to use it - it will be used more likely as a wading blanket......except last time I went over Salisbury I forgot to fit it and got a rad full of mud |

Similar here - I couldn't tell last winter if it made any difference and I read so much theory on why it would or wouldn't work that it just goes on to keep the snow out. Okay - and it looks cool too
However... what I can say for sure, is that driving on the motorway with the muff even 1/2 done up is a bad idea - it choked the intercooler and killed the power really badly, even at -10 (I realised this Summer how inadequate the standard intercooler is on the motorway even in warm weather). I won't make that mistake again. p.s. plus a certain respected tuner suggested that muffs might not be the best idea for modern intercooled engines... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Just talking from experience - i too doubt that the stat opened, or if it did then only slightly Yes from the point of view of snow I would put probably have put it back on. However, with it being so cold it would hardly have mattered.....iced up disk brakes after an overnight stop were pretty exciting though |

I remember this thread from last year and didn't like the aesthetic of a muff so I vowed to wear an extra layer instead or maybe a nice warm cardigan with an extra T-shirt perhaps. I'd rather look silly than my 110 look asphyxiated
