Oisin Tymon the man involved in the fracas with Clarkson. It is said the pair have known each other for ten years and are good friends. Good friends? According to recent press releases the production crew are saying Clarkson did not actually punch the man.
Maybe the guy ought to man up.... But maybe his background says it all Oisin Tymon came to Top Gear from a clothes makeover show featuring those dreadful pair Trinny and Susannah the two fashion journalists who helped woman to modernize their style and escape the frumpy wardrobe in the TV series 'What Not to Wear!' What is even stranger about the man is that a comprehensive internet search shows Oisin Tymon has used many aliases on other TV series, where he has been involved in the production crew such as Francis Ford Oisin | Billy Bob Tymon | Björn Tymon | Oisin Tymond I wonder why? Dare I stick my head above the parapet and say I am not bothered if BBC axes Top Gear or not?
Hardly ever watched it and then only snippets and wonder what people see in the programme! So NO I will not be signing that petition. Now if Clarkson was involved in allegedly punching/having a fracas with a member of the production team let the BBC as the employer decide what has to be done within its own disciplinary code. Or is this a deliberate publicity stunt on the part of Clarkson to make more money? Brendan |

Signing the petition means more to a lot of people than those who watch and like Top Gear and are just demanding the BBC reinstates the presenter or agreeing to his actions. I feel that most people are signing this petition backing one of the most politically incorrect presenter’s in the country because they are sick and tired of having their speech curtailed or told what is politically right to say and what is not right. Clarkson because of his outspokenness and not bowing down to the politically correct has over the last twenty four hours become a figurehead or raison d'être for people to voice their concerns on the curtailing of free speech and voiced views in this country instigated by a government, who many it seems use the exact same language in private (Example Andrew Mitchell). I for one have signed the petition because of both enjoying Clarksons presenting style and liking his outspokenness, and should this result in his dismissal it will have ramifications for ever other presenter who will because of it be too scared to say boo to a goose. While I am not advocating language that is deliberately used to inflame or indeed every utterance that comes from Clarksons mouth, I feel that speaking a word now in public that is on the so called politically correct banned list can result in a prison sentence is taking things too far. You have only to read the comments placed on the change org web site to realise that many people are sick and tired of being told what to say. But apparently he's not been suspended for something he said. It's alleged that he hit someone. Why there'd be a petition to reinstate someone who assaulted a colleague, I've no idea. 2015 Urban Truck 90XS in Havana

I do not think the petition has much to do with that in reality, read my post above yours. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

I'm with Brendan. Outspokeness or bullish? The facts of this yarn appear to change significantly. Publicity stunt or not sooner or later Clarkson will be put out to pasture.....roll on. That would be a petition I'd sign willingly and in a hurry.
His last stunt with the Argentinians nearly backfired and got far more publicity than was required or desired. 6 pages..... If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

And that is what free speech is all about K9F it is your right to think thus and voice it and I would never criticize you for doing so or likewise Brendan .
But it has to be said that over four hundred and eight thousand people have signed this petition in the last twenty two hours, in fact for the first time in its history change org has crashed several times today due to the amount of people trying to access the site to sign the petition. Maybe a publicity stunt, maybe it has been given to much precedence, but if you read the comments on the petition pages many have nothing to do with Clarkson’s actions but are to do with something much more. We are obviously at this juncture not aware of all the facts and as such irrespective of sentiment to sign the petition would in my book be wrong.
I don't want him reinstated regardless. If the petition means that much to you (which it obviously does but not for the reinstatement of JC) start one of your own stating your reasoning and true cause and if it's a good one I'll sign it willingly as will many others I am sure. Glad I am not alone with my own sentiments though. Couldn't have put it better myself...... If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! No I am happy with the underlying reasons many are signing the existing petition The same could be said if you started a petition to put Clarkson out to pasture, while many have signed to reinstate him, there would probably be a large amount of people who would also sign to get rid of him For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

This has NOTHING to do with free speech.
This is about a BBC employee who was on a final warning about his behaviour. He has allegedly assaulted a fellow BBC employee or at best been involved in a fracas with the other employee. Now if a teacher who was on a final warning allegedly assaulted a work colleague or a pupil you would expect them to be suspended from work whilst it was investigated. A teacher suddenly suspended from school would have consequences on the teaching programme, lessons might be cancelled/replaced with other lessons etc depending on the resources available to the school. If a police officer was accused of assaulting a fellow police officer or a member of the public whilst at work, there would be a public outcry if the police officer was NOT suspended. This would affect the policing of the local area. There would be a public outcry if a BBC presenter was accused of assault and the BBC did nothing. Free speech has nothing to do with it. All about a man after PR who thinks he can ignore conventional norms. Now why have people not cried out FREE SPEECH about the disappearance of the other thread about Clarkson. Some of the wording and expressions used were not at the normal standard expected on this forum. There is NO such thing as freedom of speech as it has legal limits on it. With Rights/Freedom comes responsibiities! Brendan |

I agree with those comments, Brendan. I also think that other thread was of a very poor standard. We don't all need to agree but name calling is unacceptable.
I've got to say I was surprised with the direction it went. I've been in the Disco Fourm for 7 years before switching to this one when I bought my 90 and I'd not experienced that sort of thing before. 2015 Urban Truck 90XS in Havana (previously 2013 D4 XS in Fuji White) (previously 2011 D4 XS in Stornaway Grey, auto, black leather, reversing camera and removable tow bar) (previously 2011 Freelander 2, blue (Mrs B's) (previously 2007 TDV6 D3 SE Zermatt Silver, auto, black leather, an Uncle Ray plate and AT2s) (previously 2001 Freelander One, blue) (previously 1967 Series 2, Green) |
