How is this project going?

Did you find the paint spraying easy enough too do without loads of equipment etc?

Did you do 2 coats of the satin black?

If you could do anything differently re the paint, what would it be?

More pictures please! Very Happy 2016 D4 HSE

2-3 coats of black.

I would have used more primer, as the first side i just keyed it, and sprayed the black, but the other side I used primer. and its given a much better finish. and some of the key was not deep enough and the black has flaked off so I have had to go over it with the 240 grit again and respray the section (the joy of satin black)

I will update with more pictures soon.

Coming on well!

I take it from the sticker in the rear window that the previous owner wasn't a fan of Wiltshire council? Or perhaps was employed by Wiltshire council!

The rear badges on the black one look like original Series Station Wagon badges from the 50s or early 60s. I don't know of any source of replicas for these, but they do turn up from time to time on ebay etc.

I thought I had found one but it turned out it was a clear one with black, so on my car it would just look like a big black oval Thud

Not sure about the sticker, but as my wife works for them I was ordered to remove it Rolling Eyes

Bit more of an update.

The cause of all the problems

Turns out this is a wiring nightmare.

The spot were wired off the sidelights.
The glow plugs were on constantly, there was no relay from the ignition.
Among other problems it was a total nightmare.

As it sits at the moment

But hopefully it should be nearly ready by the end of the week. :ms:

My god, rather you than me, where do you start? Wouldn't it be easier and less traumatic to get a new loom? 2016 D4 HSE

I though that, but because its a 90 (2.5 n/a) and it has a 200tdi (discovery) engine fitted I would have to do just as much cutting and splicing, so as my mate in a auto electrician the task has been left in his expert hands., and he decided it would be cheaper and just as easy to make up a new loom from scratch.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, or should I say lights. Thumbs Up

All the lights are working, and the car starts and runs.

I am just about to order a new dash binnacle, for the centre.

All the lights now have relays and are safe.

Should be rolling by the end of the week Mr. Green

The black station wagon you pictured is actually an NAS 90 (or a replica thereof) and the badges are different to a genuine series vehicle. The proper series SW badges go for a lot of money when they appear (not often) NAS 90 ones I think are unobtainium... Confused
