Sometimes there’s just too many wires to keep it neat...

Looking VERY good !!!
We are looking forward to a few weekends away in the summer and I expect you are too!
It takes a few trips away to shake everything down and see what works in the real world - then tweak and tweak and tweak !

looking forward to the seeing the insides complete and out on the road !

Thumbs Up

Regarding your comments on having a cooker inside - we had a fixed sink and cooker in the previous dormobile set up - it worked well but my partner wanted to have a more flexible system so as we can cook inside or outside depending on the weather/ location - so having a fixed gas cylinder out side with the ability to connect the gas inside or outside has been very good. We have one cooker but can use it inside for British weather or outside for more alfresco stye when in Europe or the occasional sunny summer days here.
Our water is fed to a tap in the back door with a portable collapsable basin which also works well and has a lot of flexibility too.

Having had both fixed and moveable systems, the movable one seems to be coming out on top most of the time - with the only down side of having to connect it up to make a quick cuppa - but that is the only down side that we have found to date.

Thumbs Up

Thanks for the info.
We’ve gone for a fixed hob and sink combo and an exterior gas point for an outside Cadac hob, overkill possibly but we know how the weather can be here and wanted to be able to do everything inside if needed. 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html

Ours is wooden and has been no issues and is has been VERY well used since fitting.

I have been driving to and from Scotland in it all over lock down as am a key worker - so have been cooking and sleeping in the vehicle both ways.

Take your time to think though what you want and what is practical - and make a few mock ups in cardboard before committing to the build - look for ideas from others on here and else where as you have been doing all ready look at the pros and cons as there is no perfect set up - just compromises !

Can you give a bit more detail on your batteries, please? You look to have a lot more space in your battery box than I do! Darren

Hi, no problem, they are these... https://www.tayna.co.uk/leisure-batteries/numax/cxv24mf/
Specifically chosen for their size so two wired in parallel fit in nicely. Worth mentioning though it is a YRM battery box so may be a little deeper if I remember correctly. 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html

Great update there db950, many thanks Thumbs Up

Liking all of it so far but the best bit for me is the neatness with all the wiring and in the seat box compartment as well Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

That's great, thanks. The YRM battery box explains it as I couldn't see how they'd fit like that in mine. Darren

Thank you Clayton, it’s a job to get them neat-ish with the amount there is but it came out ok! 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html

Yes of course, forgot this box has a lot flatter floor than a normal box so makes it a lot easier! 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html

Thanks Clayton Thumbs Up
The colour is Farrow and Ball, Pigeon. It looks a different colour in different light, sometimes whiteish, sometimes very light green, sometimes just grey!!
It’s definitely brightened the interior up though. 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html
