Chassis now blasted which then showed up the worse than thought condition of the rear crossmember.
New galv crossmember bought and welded on and rear step and tow bar fitted so it all got painted with the chassis. Emptying the shot blast media out! Thank you for having a look!
Reminded me to put a few more pics up, progress is slower than I’d like really...work always gets busier when I’ve got a project going on! 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html 2014 Discovery 4 SE Tech Instagram @the110camper |

Nice work.
I love rebuilding axles.... for some strange reason, a fully dressed axle on a trolley looks, just "great", new hoses, painted etc. I built a complete 90 around a rebuilt axle once..... did the axle for something to tinker with in the garage, then thought, might as well do a vehicle around it |

Thank you, appreciated
I agree, the axles look great built up on a trolley, pity they get covered up by everything else once fitted! Haha! That’s one way to do it, axle first then build around it 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html 2014 Discovery 4 SE Tech Instagram @the110camper |

Hi, all of the black paint used is the same (axles and chassis)
It’s a 2k product called Selemix Direct, available in varying gloss levels from 10% to 80%, I’m using 10% for this which is somewhere in between matt and satin I would say. It doesn’t need any primer or undercoat just goes straight on to bare rust free metal so cuts down on product needed and spraying time. It’s a high quality product with excellent adhesion to any surface, I use it quite a bit! 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html 2014 Discovery 4 SE Tech Instagram @the110camper |
