Think of it like a first date-with the knowledge that the bodywork will still look as good in 20 years time.... 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Thanks folks, it hasn't hit me yet, can't wait to take the family to look at it tomorrow.
I looked at three 60 plate 110's today between 5 and 10,000 miles at another dealer. All three had rusting edges on the bumper, rusty undersides and rusty seat frames etc. This I can deal with but what was more worrying was the beginning of rust around the bonnet brackets where they are fixed to the bulkhead - not good and difficult to treat. They simply seem to spray top coat over the metal or just don't treat the metal properly before it is painted. Surely it wouldn't cost that much more to paint things properly. Perhaps the guys going on the tour tomorrow can enquire and feedback to us. If it happened to any other car you could probably reject it or at least there would be a recall - anyway I am fully aware of what I am in for so it will be out with the rust prevention potions as soon as I get it in 12 days. YIPPEE!! |

I think it is a pre registered vehicle whatever that is but anyway it was registered on the 25th of January as a 60, 2011 plate so I have to wait until the three months is up to get it - the 27th of this month apparently.
I went to look at another but it had been through the salty winter so was pretty rusty underneath. Whilst walking around I spotted my one around the corner and asked about it. It had 96 miles on the clock and was mint underneath. I put another 10 miles on it that day whilst getting the price down to £28,000 and it has not been driven since and will not be until I pick it up so it will still have 106 miles on it. It has the dual finish alloys which was a bonus - NICE! I will get the reg, chassis number off it tomorrow and take a few pics. The kids are very excited and the wife - well, you can guess but it is my money so no arguments there and I think she will be excited to see it, sort of Her father bought 4 new ones in his time so she is well used to it........ From dreams and more conjecture and speculation than you could throw a large forest load of sticks at to soon to be reality Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

yes a lot of soul searching for me to spend sooo much on a car. The in-laws are furious, I am not telling my family and my wife gave up on me years ago (She will love it though because she has to ride around in the back of my 109 truck cab if we take the kids cycling - and of course I never go around a bend fast so all the bikes fall on her ) She is asking about camping trips to Scotland in her so we are heading in the right direction
