I am getting 9 litres to every 100km, this with only 1000km on the engine. To say I am well pleased is an under statement.
My belief that it should improve as the motor loosens up. Previous Disco TD5 always 11 litres to 100 km, Disco V8 model 2a yes well that another issue. |

I am getting the same as pannawonica since new in the City, terribly backward 10.9 - 11.5 on the freeway (at as steady as I can hold 110km/h).

Russ. The first two tanks were round my local area which as you know is rural and hilly, so thats what surprised me when I brimmed the tank and took the figures. The current tank has taken me from my home to aberdeen 324miles on a mix of A roads and motorway, (came up the A697). On the motorway I've been sitting at between 60 and 70mph, so it will be interesting to see what I get when I fill up on the way back down (still got over 1/4 tank left). I'll be heading downhill on the 9th Original Member Pie n Pea Club. 110 HCPU Tipper |

Just filled up and got 27 mpg out of the last tank full. Mix of A and B roads, 70 mph on dual c/ways.
Most recent trips have been a max of 20 miles or so. Bob |

If you look on my post a few weeks ago.
Scotland and back with highlands roads 2000miles mixed all types of speeds and roads - changing the MAF and i got between 27-28mpg. Highest in the puma...30mpg for me. Lowest at its worst time of playing up 22/3mpg - so i would say anything lower than 22 is bad and 27 is the target with 30 being good. Mike |

I make 9 km/liter in everyday use now that I have 44000 km on the clock. At the beginning was better: more than 11 km/liter. Do You think it's time to change MAF? Vinicio |

last fill was 29.6, previous fill was 30.0mpg
being as accurate as you can filling to the same point on the neck etc. mileage off the speedo NOT GPS mileage. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

Mileage and position on the neck, doesnt matter hugely - you need more than 2-4 tank fills to assess the impact, it also helps to do complete fills 1/2+ not partial fills.
I think the MAF is a way to go - plus clearing any logged faults. Any measure of mileage and fuel fill as long as its consistent should build you a picture of pre and post any changes. Also check the simple things - handbrake rub, tyre pressures etc. Mike |

That, and your EGR may be a bit clogged by now. Also use some diesel injector cleaner in your next tank, it will remove any soot deposits on the injector tips -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

If im honest i dont think a clogged EGR is a massive impactor on MPG. Think of those who blank, restrict or remove it. I do believe that logged EGR faults, default the ECU and you get a decrease in MPG...but not any failure or restriction of the EGR itself. Injector cleaner is another good one to try Mike |

I think the MPG is a good indicator of general health, there are always exceptions but in general a drop may indicate problems starting to develop. Most Land Rover owners are pretty switched on mechanically and will notice small changes in the general running of the vehicle it's a shame the dealers don't recognise this. Hopefully Pete (BAS) will have some more info on the engine set up soon. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.
