We also supply non-genuine/aftermarket parts upon customer request, so we get Britpart vans etc delivering to us daily.
And no we don't sell/pass off non-genuine items as Genuine Land Rover Parts. All non genuine items are prefixed with a Z on our invoices which denotes alternative supplier, Land Rover Genuine Parts are prefixed with an L. https://www.facebook.com/duckworthparts Send a paypal payment direct using this link www.paypal.me/duckworthparts www.duckworthparts.co.uk My Direct Line: 01673 849873 Email: danroberts@duckworthlandrover.co.uk Supplier of Genuine Land Rover & Jaguar Parts For All Models Can also supply OEM & Aftermarket parts |

The thing is that info suggests that the only place you can get the stronger looking type is from your LR dealer (who are out of stock supposedly) and yet we know that LRS also supply them..?
Edit: sorry Dan that wasn't in response to your post. |

There are pattern Sawtooths shown on eBay listings with the "strong" spoke pictured, unless of course the photo is not of what is being supplied?
It's been established there are at least two aftermarket sources of pattern Sawtooths, the Bearmach/4x4tyres route and Britpart route. We've no information currently about those from Britpart, and LRS's response doesn't make it clear which are deemed "strong". 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

I agree BUT Derrick at LRS has lots of good feedback from lots of happy customers - me included. I highly doubt they would send something other than pictured. It would ruin his reputation, and in any case you would just send them back and get a refund.. |

I wasn't referring to LRS on eBay, just general eBay listings.
There are definitely two types of PATTERN sawtooth wheels. Click image to enlarge ^^ These have no "undercut" behind the spoke ^^ These have an "undercut" behind the spoke NB: Genuine have no undercut. I am not going to speculate on who brands/supplies each type of pattern wheel as there is no CLEAR information on whose are whose 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Yes very nice but what the hell has it got to do with unsafe sawtooths?
If you want to show it off stick it in the my defender section. |

I have been following this thread with slight interest (since I personally don't like Sawtooths one bit) but it does seem to me, on reviewing the thread, that there's actually no evidence that any of the wheels illustrated are actually dangerous.
There seem to be at least three different manufacturers selling three different spoke patterns via a multitude of outlets, but apart from the initial ebay ad mentioning "dangerous" copies with absolutely no evidence to back up the statement, there is no suggestion - at least not that I remember seeing - that any Sawtooths have failed. It is entirely possible that even the ones with the spindliest spokes are of adequate strength (and they may be a stronger alloy that those with thick spokes). Anyone with a background in engineering, materials science, or metallurgy will tell you that changes in section in a cast metal introduce a liklihood of flaws and weakness, so it is even possible that the thin spoked wheels are in fact less likely to fail. It seems to me to be something of a storm in a teacup, caused by some questionable advertising! It is however good that it has been aired publicly since anyone intending to buy a set can now make an informed choice. |

That's a fair point. Could be differing materials.
It's also true to say that even the thin looking ones may be very unlikely to fail.. |

There is not from my ringing round last week a shortage of genuine wheels, I have in the past two weeks spoke to 5 different LR dealers and 4 were willing to sell me sawtooth wheels and stated they were in stock (black only) and the other dealer said they were not allowed to sell me any as my TD5 90 did not have them on originally !
All of them I can say were very helpful Chris. |

Just logged in and had a quick look at the supplier portals of bearmach and britpart. Interestingly both appears to be listed at 13.52kg weight each and basically the same wholesale price. From their pictures it looks like both are the "thick" design.
I wonder if this thin design they mentioned is something that is direct from China as I know a lot of wheel suppliers in China make stuff like this... |
