They can be tricky, as there is nothing to lever on.
Everything is plastic and doesn't take much to crack......how do I know that Just keep going side to side, like I say they do pop up eventually If not, might be time for the slide hammer.... 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. 1. new screws 2. put on the thread a little bit of anti friction paste (such as Chesterton 787) 3. tight at 6Nm 4. wait 15 minutes 5. close with protractor further 180° (180 degree rotation) 6. run the engine at idle for five minutes to allow time to the copper seal to adapt well to the head Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition IID Pro MV License Last edited by dgardel on 18th May 2015 6:35pm. If I read this correctly, your number four injector is seized / stuck in the cylinder head.
You could try the slightly naughty workshop removal method. Loosen the injector mounting bolt SLIGHTLY. Say one turn. Pop off the upper seals or have them slightly resting in there housing on the rocker cover. Start the engine and see if compression pressure will push the injector up. If it starts chuffing, it should come free. Granted both injectors will need new seals afterwards. All the best. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |

I have the same issue at the moment and have bought all new seals and just need to get round to doing the job. I've also bought an injector seat cutting kit to clean off any soot.
Should I be worried about any crap falling into the cylinders when cleaning up the seats with the cutter? (kit was something like this http://www.sealey.co.uk/PLPageBuilder.asp?...ctid=13996) 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X |

Thanks for those replies everyone.
The bolt setting is also on page 434. (Been reading it all evening, wife got cross because I haven't spoke a word for three hours... ) Dgardel do those sliders work on the puma? I am paranoid about cracking the rocker cover and they ain't cheap, might be able to hire a set. Like the idea of using pressure to push it out though. Also have seen a few adverts for mobile injector removal companies, but by the time I have paid them it might be cheaper to buy the tool. Jones the quiet one. Cleaned plenty of injector seats and never had a problem
most/all cutters have a pilot spindle on the bottom ( to help keep cutter square to seat ) , this also block the injector hole just to be on safe side , put a small amount of grease on the cutter to help hold any crap to cutter you only need to clean carbon of the seat not cut the seat really |

Carrotbay we rigged up an oil drain pump as a hoover,( taped a small bore hose to the end of the suction hose, I pumped while the mechanic (nev) hoovered the crap out) it worked really well and only took about 30 seconds per bore to clean them out.
If they are not seized the injectors just pull out. The top rubber seals once the injector is out just lever out with a flat blade, cleaned the injectors with a bit of scotch brite, as Ian said be careful of the o rings on the fuel pipes and mark/store the injectors in order. Fired up after about 6 sessions of turning it over for about 20 seconds. Good luck and did you buy Gen washers? Your a rich man I sent mine back and bought some off ebay at £5 for 4 just couldn't justify nearly £70 for four small washers and they seemed quite hard compared to the ebay ones.
Good luck. Series I 86" Petrol orig side valve (daily hack) VW Tiguan ( bit bland but very comfy ) Porsche 997.2 790 Bonnie |
