Personally I’d ask a shop to fix the holes or even change the wing because of the holes.

It is different. I’m not completely sold on the look of it yet but if it cools the area infront of the drivers footwell then I’ll be happy.

Gets so warm in the cabin in longer journeys and hoping the forced air in will help a little. If not I’ll be magic if yo a large plate that hides the holes left by the safari snorkel.

That's the engine air intake. It won't make a difference to high cabin temperatures, which are largely a result of the gearbox and exhaust under the floor. Darren

You sir are assuming that’s where my intake is, it it were factory spec then maybe so. But it isn’t.

Air intake is via a 4inch pipe to the wing top. So the wing side just has a hole in it. Now has more air being pushed into it when driving along. We shall see.

A new wing is on my shopping list and I’ll get to it eventually. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

It seemed like a reasonable assumption Laughing Regardless though, I still doubt it'll help with floor temperatures, I'm afraid, as the problem is underneath. Darren

So far so good. Air inlet temps have stabilised. Since I put the new intake pipe in the temperatures were rising. So if nothing else it’s solved this problem upto now.

Will see how the footwell temperature goes on my journey upto the Peterborough show next week. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

No more wheel on the roof. Reduce the C of G a bit! Safari equip galvanised wheel carrier fitted yesterday.

Looking good! Just out of interest when you swing it away does it lock open, so to speak, or just swing about?

I was admiring Daisy at the LRO Whistle

Thanks James 😎

It doesn’t lock open, it has a steel cable that stops it from going too far. I’m working on an idea of a gas strut to hold it open as it’s only been on 12hours, and bashed me on the back already. Obviously with the drop down open it can’t close. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

Just found your thread, a lot of nice touches on this one!

Where did you take power from for the switch?

Thank you.

The powers for the switch...
Back illumination is just piggy backed from an unused connector behind the dash as it’s a double cab.
Actual power is fed via a relay to the lights. The switch is just a trigger to activate the relay. Fed via a blue sea fuse box I have situated next to the battery. Thumbs Up 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

Ok thanks. I have a winch isolator solenoid to wire up using a factory switch, trying to fathom how to do it! Will research further. I have a double cab also - what unused connectors are there? Wondering whether anything is available for the switched live

edit: researched and found the answer to my own question... heated rear screen, rear washer, rear wiper. Think I will use one of these.
