Was at my local dealer today, no Defender 70th V8 at the show. Seems a local UK affair, as apparently not possible to homologation for continental European roads. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

I have recently discovered that despite all the hype, you can chop and customise any car you want in France, as long as the person/company who does the work has a special 'Prototype' licence as seen by this chap's offerings. He's based round the corner from me, so if I wanted to slap an LS3 into the DC, he could do it as a 'prototype'. Will certainlt take him my Triumph this spring...

"I happened to be the bloke on the ground, not Nic, and managed to grab a five-mile punt through Geneva's back-blocks in the new toy."
Seems to be there... https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-driven...iven/37670 |

I’ll see Monday if it is there or not... You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Am here on the spot now. Not only no Defender in sight at JLR stand, but not even a picture or so to refer to the brand’s origin.
Eric Click image to enlarge But luckily, right next to Land Rover the interesting stuff starts. Click image to enlarge But I think I’ll keep my wallet closed. That’s a great move to show their heritage to the crowds. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Others know better how to build on their heritage.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Looks great from a distance actually, but from close by the build quality is matching the Defender. Nice LED headlights though. Eric You never actually own a Defender. Well, as to that D5... Not only a total misser from the side (way too much overhang, looks like it wears a diaper), and from the rear (Gerry got the number plate position just wrong), but the interior looks pretty cheapish to me. Materials are only so so, finishing and assembly detail quite poor. I also was in a Velar, same observations about the interior I’m afraid.
Compare that with the new Volvo V70 Cross Country, which has a quality feel all over, and it is clear that Land Rover still can’t get it right. The good thing of today is that I limited the spending to a bottle of Meguiar’s exterior rubber treatment for the SVX. Eric You never actually own a Defender.
