Thanks for all the photos, interesting to see.
I think I officially class myself as old now; I much prefer seeing the old vintage cars than the new ones, something I never thought I'd say! Those vintage Porsche, Mini and Beetle are just beautiful. The Chelsea Truck stand... well each to there own. 🤮 James MY2012 110 2.2TDCi XS SW Orkney Grey - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic43410.html MY1990 110 200TDi SW beautifully faded Portofino Red - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post743641.html#743641 MY1984 90 V8 Slate Grey - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post744557.html#744557 Instagram @suffolk_rovers |

The retro Peugeot concept is worth having a closer look although I can’t imagine Peugeot making them. I only have a video so can’t upload

Corona virus effect. Not that for JLR it makes any difference, but this years Geneva Motor Show which would run 5-15 March just has been cancelled. With immediate effect Swiss government ordered cancellation of all events which involve 1000 or more visitors, for starters already until mid March. Easyjet Switzerland cancels all flights from Geneva (their home base) to Italy too.

Sadly I think this will be the tip of the iceberg so to speak. I can see major disruption to events over this summer here in the UK. A real headache for those running events. I've got something to do with local V75 event this May and already wondering if it is a good idea to plan an event that will bring 1000 plus people together. Time will tell. 1984 One-Ten CSW

Yes. And the pandemic is a poor and not correct excuse. It started several years ago with big tickets like JLR, Volvo, Opel, Smart, and a bunch other significant brands balking at the cost of such car shows. And that at a time where they were already much developing their internet based marketing and sales. This got further momentum. In the past Geneva motor show had 180 participants. For 2022 they counted on 60, but of those, several of the biggest tickets still cancelled recently. So what’s left? The Geneva motor show organisation survived until now thanks to a approximate 20-25 million chf loan. I personally think they won’t continue to survive. Different times are here to stay I’m afraid. And the bloody green movement on their pedal (e-)bikes which has gained significant strength here in local governments of cities like Geneva and Lausanne just will love the demise of such an event.

Shame.
The motorshow was a standout in a country that I've always thought was quite anti motor vehicle/ motor enthusiast. |

Switzerland generally is not really anti cars. It is mainly the new wave of "green minds" in some major cities that are anti. If they don’t drive a bicycle, they maybe go as far as buying a small car with an even smaller 2 or 3 cylinder engine of less than 1000cc, forgetting that on the smallest slope (and we have a lot of those ) they have to rev permanently to +4000 rpm in 1st or 2nd gear to keep in motion. And same time see their fuel gauge drop extremely fast. But that is something those greenies will only learn by experience. Not sure they ever will understand.
Luckily, here in our area around the lake there still are a high share of large sporty cars/suvs/supercars on the roads, often with big engines. But things are changing. I was with the SVX at our Geneva dealer last week, and the showroom had 3 new Defenders on display, all with 2 liter gasoline engines. Diesel does not find takers anymore apparently.
