Yep...that was it! Mr. Green I had asked if I did a mirror on that drawing it would fit my 110...but then I realised that the air intake is on the same side whether it's a LHD or RHD! Embarassed

I shall post up many more pics of the complete fabrication and then the fitment to the RAI pipe. I may begin works on building a bracket to surround the windscreen to hold the RAI without drilling into the frame. In future this will also double as a 50" led bar mount

This looks good, however...... that pipework entry on the wing has no water sump / drain, anything entering is going straight down like a water shoot!

We all like a splash, and many go wading.

I see my air box has drain holes in the bottom, but I've read some block those up.

Well the adaptor is now in the final stages of build. Ive decuded to leave making a frame to hold tge snorkel and just drill through the windscreen frame work as today I inspected my air filter and it was drenched! So the snorkel will be fitted theis weekend.

However! I am having trouble removing the air box to do the air box modding. It seems I need to drill six rivets in the inner arch but id like some confirmation bwfore I drill something that didnt need drilling,

Pgotos will follow tomorrow after ive sprayed the adaptor

For the air box mod cutting the inside out, you could just use a hot knife while the air box is in place which will save the need for its removal.

Regards Pete.

Thats not a bad tip, given that I have air con and all my research is telling me to remove air con pipe or the inner arch, I may opt for the in situ idea, cheers,

I'm just fabricating another version of this (more later IF it works) - but I was a bit concerned about fatman saying:

"After the airbox mod,i think it lost some "sweetness" somewere between 1600 and 1800 rpm, definatly got noiser at 1800 rpm. "

Before I take to the inside of the airbox with a Dremel, should I be worried?

Cheers

I got my indie to do the airbox mod during the annual service last week. He also sealed up the pipe connections.

Can't say I can tell the difference though, but will watch the consumption --

Thanks Pete - I had thought about just blocking it off but I'd still like the water to drain Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

I ment that i lost some of the gains i got from the hose replacement.
Now i installed a bigger hose (102mm) and breathes right,we did the same thing to "Pouf's" stock puma http://www.defender2.net/forum/post308891.html#308891 and he also felt the gains, especially low down the rev range.

air box modification
I can't unfortunately see the picture added to your message.

Would you mind posting it again so that I can see how you modified the air box.

Thanks in advance

I have increased the torque by 11Nm? That's got to be the cheapest mod ever!

It's gives the potential of 11nm with other modifications to the inside of the air box... especially to the internal trumpet.

However it will never give more max torque than the engine one calibration is set to give. But will aid engine performance and response over the whole rpm range... and thus help it to make max torque.
