Haha yea I thought of the ram air style but that would simply become a ram water style. And yea something similar to porny but I plan to use a single plate design if I can suss it out

102mm- the extra 2mm makes all the difference.
This is one of my original prototype set ups - I use a different pipe now - which has a smooth centre, and played around with the wing intake. This fits onto a custom billet adaptor into the air box. I guess you'll modify the inside of the airbox,i was thinking of doing that tomorrow but since i used a "tiny" 80mm tube-hose,it might be an overkill,i'll see..

You will still get a good improvement with 80 mm hose and modifications to the air box. I started with 80 mm and only went larger when I wanted to step up further in power output.

First thing in the morning,i removed the inner restriction,i just used a blow torch and a hot knife.
The inner diameter of the "restrictor"-inner tube is 66mm and outside diameter 70. Can't wait to test it..in 8 hours |

If anyone fancys lazer cutting some wing back plates we have a drawing you could use. in the .Rar file below is 80mm and 90mm PDF and .DXF files for what we prototyped with.
As said by Ian 102mm is best where possibile but is very hard to fit into a ABS car though not impossibile. https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...0mm%20.rar Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Pete |

And some feedback, although i drove only 30 kms of city traffic
The biggest improvement was from the original piping replacement,i only have the puma for 5000 kms now and it was the first time i felt it like that especially in quite low revs. After the airbox mod,i think it lost some "sweetness" somewere between 1600 and 1800 rpm, definatly got noiser at 1800 rpm. I also feel that the more i drive it the more it adjusts to the changes i did - placebo effect strikes back Thats what i saw-felt in my case,my def is far from stock configuration, hopefully i will try this mods to a mates stock puma the next 2 weeks. So take a step each time. |
