Either way, for a customer to be left high and dry reflects poorly on both the manufacturer and dealer. Looking out of my window I see my neighbour has arrived home with a shiny new RR - just out the box - I look forward to winding him up tomorrow about Land Rover's commitment to after-sales support ...... Having ditched his Mercedes he might be in for a rude awakening.

Well, just got back from a weekend away to find an email sent Saturday from the service manager telling me that he has just had an email from land rover to say they should have a filter with him Wednesday...... Good news! (Hopefully) and only 14-16 days to get a basic service item from the manufacturers..... Have been left not only feeling but wholeheartedly believing that land rover really could not care less about customers who purchase defenders Big Cry

Good to hear it's getting sorted.

I trust they'll also be putting fresh oil in (instead of recycling what's in there and been running through the old filter)?

I found three filters listed for the 2.2 and all are paper element types - MANN, MAHLE and BOSCH Is it possible that the wrong type was fitted? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali
2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu

No, all new 2.2's have spin-on oil filters - mine was built early October so I guess anything after that. The dealer has a demonstrator registered in September and that has the element type.

Well, the 110 was delivered back today, new filter on, oil changed again and as clean as it was when it arrived new. Mike from Land Rover helped a lot with the chasing and hassling and sent a LRE voucher through today as well!

Great news, Mike from Landrover and the forum here has helped me in the past a couple of times. He is a great bloke and does a fantastic customer service job.

Glad you are back up and running again.

I've got exactly the same problem, I want to change the oil and filter, but the LR058104 screw on filters are back ordered from both Land Rover and Ford..

BTW The Ford 'finis code' part number is 1812551, list price is about £ 12... Not sure what they are from LR?

My car was supplied new with a Ford 'FoMoCo' brand filter fitted.

Don't worry - it only took my lot 16 days to get one (with emails/calls from me every day to both land rover and the dealer!)

Well I have now got oil filters 'on backorder' with both LR and Ford, neither can currently give me a delivery date!

£ 12.74 from Ford, the LR dealer can't even give me a price..

Will simply have to wait and see now.

This situation is just crazy!

I had exactly the same - but my 110 was with the dealers with no filter and I had their demonstrator, in the end a filter was apparently "flown in" (god knows from where....) and courier'd to them... Absolutely bonkers!

Now I'm beginning to understand why Land Rover main dealers have to charge so much - it's like complete amateurs are running the parts supply chain. Imagine the costs and inconvenience incurred all because some incompetents cannot organise the supply of oil filters to their front line troops. Then compare those costs and inconvenience to what Land Rover will actually pay for an oil filter?

Well it is Ford 1, Land Rover 0

Only ordered it Monday, but today my local Ford dealer called me to say my filter had arrived, this is despite it actually being on backorder with Ford UK, but they were able to get one from another dealer who had stock (in Southampton I think he said).

I still don't even have a price from LR, let alone a delivery date!

This filter is identical in all respects to the one my vehicle was supplied new with, so if you need a filter, try Ford part no 1812551..

PS The chaps at the Ford parts department (Vospers Falmouth 01326 372951) could not be more helpful!

LR same price as Ford,

Think the problem with supply issue is recent change of supplier for the product,

doesn't happen very often service items not being available. https://www.facebook.com/duckworthparts
