Though after a complaint you got a car from them in the end, this still stinks from a dealer is well out of order how you and your car were treated. imagine going back for something under warranty for a repair to the engine to a different dealer to find they voild your wattanty as the filter is damaged! I personally feel they do not have an excuce for this, If the filter was removed it simply should have not ever ever been put back on. and to then have the gawl to charge you full price for the curticy of doing so... wow they are taking the . The simple thing is,, if they found they didnt have a filter, the car is off the road and you get a car to borrow untill parts arrive for your car simples. Pete |

Forwarding emails to LR customer service goes to a generic address. No promise that it would be read, unless you can get a personal email for one of the LR staff, BUT, a posting on the newsgroup means it will be read. You could cut and paste those emails or cut and paste into a PM message to the LR customer service person who monitors that group. LANDYWATCH

Are you serious - is someone having a laugh at your expense? Are Land Rover so short of cash and disorganised that their parts supply chain is breaking down? |

It certainly feels like someone is having a laugh at my expense, let's face it - you couldn't write it! Apparently Fords don't have any ether! Defender - the go-anywhere, do anything vehicle that will take you round the world.... As long as you don't need an oil filter!!!

Are they not legally bound to have to be able to supply service or repair parts within a normal time period ? If they can not supply general service parts then the defender is "not fit for purpose" as you can not maintain it to Landrover standards with Landrover parts as they are not available.
I think tbh they need to seriously compensate you for this total screw up, its madness they do not have the simplest of service parts yet still build many new ones per day without care they can not be maintained due to lack of spares. Pete. |

If Land Rover don't actually make the oil filter in-house - which I don't believe is their core skill - who makes them for Land Rover?
I had a problem getting a filter for another vehicle - contacted one of the leading European filter manufacturers (FRAM Filters) and a very nice lady who was a technical specialist had me sorted in less than 5 minutes. FRAM actually produce filters for many leading manfacturers. Don't know if Land Rover are one of their customers but I'll wager someone on the interwebby knows. Here is a link to their online catalogue (updated weekly) http://www.fram-europe.com/en/catalogue/online-catalogue.html In today's 24 X 7 world no current vehicle in the UK should be off the road due to a shortage of oil filters. FRAM manufacture a Land Rover Defender 2.2 TD4 Oil Filter CH9973AECO if that helps - or it may be a different one you need? Funnily enough the same filter is also listed for Ford, Volvo, Citroen, Fiat & Peugeot applications - more common components and shared heritage. |
