Defender 90 TD5 CSW 1998 (S)
Hi, I have my first ever Land Rover Smile

Can i ask a few basic questions first please.....What spec is my Landy likely to be ? Also I have been looking for my ECU, most forums said it was under the passenger seat, i removed the passenger seat today and found the battery

Also can my ECU be remapped being Dec 1998? it seems to be very sluggish above about 2500RPM in any gear, does that point to anything obvious ?

It seems in very good condition body wise

Many thanks

Congratulations on your new purchase Smile

The ecu depends on the market I think, it doesn't swap sides when the steering wheel does. Mark S

Plenty of threads on here regarding Td5 missfire etc, when you do find the ecu under the right hand seat disconnect the red plug and check for oil contamination in there. This is very common and is easily sorted with a new injector wiring harness.Let us know how you get on and welcome to the joys of Defender ownership. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Hi

As well as oil in ecu, performance issue could be due to your MAF sensor failing or the wastegate actuator arm sticking.

Yes you can get a remap on the older ecu - I have a 99my and got it done Thumbs Up

Enjoy the Defender!

Try disconnecting the plug from the maf sensor and go for a drive if it improves significantly that is probably your problem. 2005 Td5 90 XS
