Oooh.....nearly Ray.
Prezzy, you should have put that in the "Spotted" section, then Ray would have been officially "spotted"! 2002 110 td5 |

Ah so you are on here didn't have time to say hello as I was in a rush to get to Solihull to pick something up for the 110 so a 5 hour round trip (pics later when I've had my dinner) yours was looking stunning @jimb I've never been spotted in the right section Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |

This is why I didn't have enough time to say hello to prezzy yesterday. A 5 hour round trip to Solihull to pick up this bargain I won on evil bay
Click image to enlarge It's never been fitted but does have a few scratches so a clean up should sort it, and it was about a quarter of land rovers price Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |

Ray you may find it's lacquered and the marks could be underneath the lacquer. I also secured the same SVX guard in a 'bargain deal' a few years ago. It had 'done the rounds' with I believe two former forum owners before me. I just got it stripped and powdercoated gloss black (eventually after having it done another colour first) after taking a grinder to it to shave a bit off so it fitted with my bumper and the recovery eyes. I also used stainless domeheads with polycarbonate washers and heatshrink on the shanks to bolt it to the mounting frame to 'finish it off.'

@anderzander yep 5 I figured with the money I was saving it was like paying myself £60 an hour with a nice drive thrown in
@k9f yeah I think it is lacqered as I've just rubbed most of the marks out with 2000 wet and dry so I'll give it a blow over this evening and fit it sometime this week Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |

i noticed you had the same guard on yours while I was filling up. I've drooled over yours lots of times while taking the kids up to pre school, it's exactly what I want in a defender but too many kids and a dog rule it out also your number plate tops it off perfectly Ray

Click image to enlarge I can finally get rid of the rattely old rear step but I think I'm going to have to trim a bit off the nak wheel carrier or buy the new version. Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |

Which version the of NAS step bumper is that? I have been on the hunt for one for ages that has the 2" receiver hitch rather than the flat plate or tow ball. Plus, it looks like it has the brace portion under the bottom to bolt the arms to the frame. I miss having the step bumper that I had on my NAS 90. It was super solid, and the 2" receiver was very versatile.
You have it right on in respects to re-finishing! My policy is everything steel on the outside gets galvanized and then powder-coated... you will only have to do it once! |
