LeeS I am happy that all was injected and covered but the amount of overspray was a bummer. I am scared to use white spirit to remove it and the weather is so crap ATM I have not even attempted it. Once the Christmas hamper job is over I will get it into the warehouse and give it a good clean and maybe even fit some Christmas presents (fingers crossed) 59 2.4 110 XS Utility

Just phoned Mike at Rustmaster and booked myself in at Hatfield thursday 03 June for a dose of waxoiling. Normally he now offers a 12% discount for forum members (20% if group booked 10 vehicles) but as I made my initial enquiries some time ago he's going to honour the 20% bless him! Intend taking a few piccies etc. whilst there.
So if any forum members are in the area and fancy hooking up for a brew I'm at a loose end for about 5 hours that day! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

TallPaul,
Will take pictures, have done quite a bit of research, looking for closer venues etc to have this done. There are lots of places about and cheaper too! There are also those that 'profess' to do an excellent job and are more expensive! Nevertheless Rustmaster offer forum members a discount, have had good write ups from forum members and several recommendations and the website seems impressive too. I am prepared to drive for a couple of hours to get there, negotiate the M25 and have nothing to do when I get there...They'd better be good!!! I also liked the manner in which Mike dealt with my queries! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Sounds good, I also read good things on here about Dunsfold. I also read messy things about doing it yourself.

How did we ever manage before? Think it was called 'networking' and 'by word of mouth'....Same principles but didn't involve a 'pooter' and obviously wasn't as accessable or widespread, but still worked. I got him to drop me off in Hatfield and went to London. Obviously handy for me because I work there but you could get a few hours in London whilst they're spraying away - not a lot to do on the farm
Fares to London from Hatfield are pretty cheap (you'll probably be traveling off peak) and the trains run frequently. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

On some level its depressing that new defender owners are going straight out to spend £400 odd quid on having the chassis protected, when it should be done by the manufacturer though

Call me sad if you will, but I enjoyed watching the car being treated. Admittedly the weather was very nice when I was there and it might be a very different matter on a dreary, wet day, but I say watch it, and take heart from the sheer amount of waxoyl they use.
(Handy tip: if you need to use the loo whilst you're there, ask to borrow the toilet paper before wandering off up the lane to the outhouse ). Peter 2008 SWB Truck Cab 1952 80" Soft top |

I have always protected my cars from rust, with Tectyl in Norway and in Denmark with Dinitrol.
