niglyn, your right he sounds like a thoroughly nice chap !
He didn't mind at all when I mentioned the ASHES ! He sounded proud of his reputation and in true Aussie fashion also seemed very laid back and confident in his application of specialist waxes, the forum discount offer is a good one at 20%, Lets see how many takers we can muster up ? Cheers Alan,
well that's 3 so far, I was wondering whether I should start a new topic with a proper list ? Can you assist Martin ? And are any rules being broken here ? Is the 20% discount substantial enough to warrant a whole topic of who wants in? Personally I think so as no one person is bound to any sale of only one item ? There are as many applications available as persons requiring the service ? Then say if we get 15 20 or even 30 applications thro this guys workshop instead of hammering him for more discount we request he makes a donation or advertises on the forum? Just my thoughts ? Just been cleaning all the over-spray off my LR. Top tip - take the wheels off whilst it is being undersealed, saves a lot of cleaning time
I took off all the door lininings to ensure the insides got a good gunge. Have just washed the vehicle (to rinse off the white spirit I used to remove the black spodges everywhere) and so was able to see how much water the LR door window seals let in. Gallons is the answer!!! and I was very careful not to spray too much water on the doors for this very reason. With the door linings removed, it is very easy to remove the winow seals, so I'm going to fill underneath the seal with a mastic bedding compound and re-fit the seals. This should stop 99.9% of the water getting into the door & rusting out the bottom. You will find the bodywork will have a funny waxy feel after the rustproofing. I think this is the cavity wax which mists and gets everywhere. It comes off easily whilst washing the vehicle with hot water & normal car shampoo. If you are planning to keep your LRs for a long time it is well worth the rust proofing treatment. It will also be a good selling point in the future. I'm sure Micheal at Rustmaster will give you the 20% discount for three vehicles. I doubt he could give any better discount than that, no matter how many vehicles club together. He seems to have a steady stream of work flowing in anyway. Inviting him to advertise on the forum may be a good idea. It will help him & the forum. |

Duplicate post really as i've mentioned this in the General section, but Foley Special Vehicles have just quoted me between £150 - £200 to fully and professionally Waxoyl the 110 for me. This would seem like a cheaper solution every 5 years than B'n'A just once.

Hi all
My first post on here, but have been lurking for a while. I've been watching this thread and felt moved to add my two pence. I had my 2008 110 Utility Station Wagon (Stornoway grey, forum colour of choice I believe ) ) waxoyled with Rustmaster yesterday (Sunday). I was very impressed with the service from Michael and especially from his sprayer Kevin. They explained the process confidently and well, demonstrated all the kit and wax they would be using, and let me watch the whole process closely. They were even happy for me to point out areas where I wanted more cover, and cleaned the inevitable overspray well afterwards. Since getting it home yesterday evening I've found two areas where the cover isn't great on the crossmember, but I can touch those up without problem and am satisfied that the overwhelming majority of the underside is extremely well protected. The only trouble is that my car is now sat on the drive leaking wax from the cavities like it's a beached whale that's been shot! Hope that's of some use if some of you are contemplating having your vehicles done, I have a few picture taken on my mobile phone - if they're any good I'll post them up later. |

Rustmaster sounds the place to go but it's a bit far away from the North East of England. Do they have other branches? Has anyone used "the wax works" in Morpeth?

Mine dripped a little, mainly due to them putting extra in all the holes to ensure I was satisfied.
We are only talking a little here, if any so your drive won't be covered in blobs of gunge. The black stuff does not drip anyway, just the clear cavity wax, if at all. What I have noticed on the garage floor are lots of hardened black flakes. This is where it is burning off from the exhaust. It just sweeps up, or will blow away in the wind. I don't think you should have any concerns about the wax oil. Within a few years when the LR starts sprouting leaks everywhere your drive will be covered in oil anyway It is well worth doing if you are intending to keep the vehicle. I'm sure it also adds value when sold privately especially if done from new. |

Can I ask did you spray yours on or paint it? Looks like an even finish. If spray was it the Waxoyl can pump garden water dispenser thing, or proper airline spraygun job? |
