The head will power the 6x9's but they will be quiet. Are your building enclosures for them ??? This would make them louder, but takes up more space. You'll need something around 0.4cuft. If you look at earlier posts you'll see some I made earlier. Ideally you'll want a mono block amp for the sub. I just happen to have a spare Whistle . Its 300w RMS Alpine. Say £50 + postage if your interested ? Alternatively you could use a 2 channel and bridge it. You will need more RCA preferably from the head or taken from the other Amp.

Installing will be pretty simple, make sure you fuse the Amp live feed, use 4/8 gauge cable for permanent live and earth. Keep the earths short if you can, And go straight to the body, tub. You could use the neg battery terminal, but you are more likely to get interference using that.

Enjoy Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

31A draw on that Amp too so a 35A fuse would be ideal or if difficult to find then a 40A. Personally I'e gone for AFS fuse and holder not the cheaper AGU. Although will still work just the same but there have been issues with AGU fuse holders.

Steve & Jim, thanks for your input...

this is where the speakers and sub will be living, the top box...

the box is mainly used for jump cables, straps'n'stuff, it sits on rails so I can have the space in front or back like such..

I can fit the speaker's facing the cab or the rear but the sub will be facing downwards, unless I have to go smaller (Like an alpine Whistle )

I was hoping to wire the sub and 6x9's like this diagram showing the 3 channel set up

but looks like I have to think again, what do you guys think

cheers
Mike

Not at all, just a bit of love towards Steve. Thumbs Up I have ocd at times, and wanted my amps to match, Hence why now I have a pair of Focals. A mono amp will drive a sub better, although bridging a normal 2/4 channel amp will do almost the same job. Think you'll find the sub drowns out the other speakers, although looking at the PDF you could bridge 2 channels and use the other 2 to run the 6x9's. Run your fronts of the head? The sound iss all personal to the user, just have a play around with alternatives before you do the final wiring. My recent project started by the addition of 6x9's, which are now long gone and several changes later finally have the set up and sound that I want and like. here to help if I can Thumbs Up

Thanks Jim, I also have a little 100w amp I was thinking of connecting for the fronts, still toying with that idea, most of this stuff I have obtained very cheaply or inherited from guys at work who have upgraded (apart from the amp) and it was all collecting dust in my workshop so I thought I'd have a dabble as the sound in my 90 is poor to say the least. I won't be having the sub cranked up to give me extra boom boom power going uphill Rolling with laughter , I'm not a boy racer, but a nice boom now and again is nice with the right track, I'm just hoping to get a richer sounding system at bargain basement price Thumbs Up and your's and Steve's Thumbs Up help and advise is greatly appreciated Optimists say the glass is half full..

Shocked Shocked Shocked

I can't see powering the 6x9's and Sub on that one Amp will work the 6X9's would probably be okay but the Sub very underpowered. I would go for a Mono Amp for the Sub and a 2 channel for the 6X9's. Sound reasonable to you Barbel?

So do you think I should bin the amp I've got? or bin the amp? or start from scratch? or could I use the amp to drive the front speakers & 6x9's and get Barbel's sub, which I believe will only need an input from my head unit & power? Optimists say the glass is half full..

Gut instinct I would agree with you Steve, But by Wireing it up and seeing what it sounds like will give a true answer.

Mike Understand where your coming from and in theory it could work. You will need to separate the sub and 6x9's in that box. Ie separate compartments otherwise back pressure will cause distortion. Big Cry You could have the sub Up or Down, or make 1 box that houses all 3 to sit in front of your moving top box. I have concerns that your top box will shake rattle and roll thus giving you a crap sound. I too was undecided about having speakers facing forward or back, and in the end went forwards, in theory you will lose some clarity but as I didn't try it who knows. Finally if you run different amps you will need multiply RCA connections. Some amps have inputs and outputs, otherwise you need splitters, as your H/unit only has 1 pre out?? You will lose your fader control ! There is other ways around that but I won't get too technical yet. Thumbs Up

Can't type that fast Shocked

Just to clarify Mike, my little active Alpine sub is sold. What I do have is a mono block 300 rms amp that will power your sub Whistle Whistle You would use the Kenwood amp to run your speakers (x4) and the mono for the sub. Thumbs Up

Jim, I am going to build mdf boxes inside the top box, a) for the reasons you stated b) to protect the speakers so I can still use it for storage, I don't want a box that big just dedicated to speakers Thumbs Up
I'm thinking of just wiring it all together on the workbench and see what it sounds like Whistle Optimists say the glass is half full..

Sounds Like a plan Whistle Whistle . I'd build the boxes, but would place(not fix) in the 90 and see what it sounds like. it will sound different in the 90 to an open room/garage. Thumbs Up
Try that first and see what you think, If you want more then My mono amp will be £50 +postage, but try what you have first, see what you think Thumbs Up
Personally the little active subs are good, but can't replicate a properly set up sub and amp. They just cannot move enough air. With mine it was drowned by the Amped 6x9s thats why I now have a chavy Sub box Laughing Laughing

I think I'll try that jim, I've was just a little confused about peak power and rms, I was mistaken thinking 350w rms sub would've been ok on a 600w amp Confused , that's why I came here to ask advise, but there's no substitute for experience, so If I go through the exercise of wiring it all together I'll learn a bit along the way Thumbs Up Optimists say the glass is half full..
